Summer Competition: In preparation for this year’s celebration of National Poetry Day on 1 October, enter any or all of the following competitions: • Write a poem on this year’s theme of Vision; • Illustrate your own poem or one already published; watch this insightful video by top illustrator Chris Riddell. • Learn a poem by heart and record yourself reciting it; there are hints and tips on the Poetry by Heart website. Submit your entries to tff@rgsg.co.uk by Friday 11 September. Prizes will be awarded for each category and for different age groups (TFF). ILA Deadline: The ILA deadline has been extended by 24 hours to 4.00pm on Wednesday 8 July. This will give both halves of the year the same amount of time to put the final touches to their projects. Studies have shown that reading is one of the most effective ways to offset the “summer dip” which can mean that students start back in September at a lower academic level than they had attained in July, so be sure to read regularly over the break.
