The RGS Today Thursday 7 May 2020 Issue 447

General Reminders Bank Holiday: A reminder that the virtual doors of Remote RGS will be closed tomorrow, and there will be no lessons as it is the official VE Day Bank Holiday. Enjoy a well-deserved long weekend. RGS Needs You!: Be part of history as for the first time in the RGS’s rich 500-year history, the RGS competes in a remote sporting fixture. We are going to run – quite literally – our first ever Under 12 to Under 15 remote sports fixture against local rivals KCS Wimbledon and Caterham School, who boast as their Directors of Sports no other than Mr Rogers and Mr Baggs respectively. Do not, however, let these former RGS legends secure boasting rights over the RGS! The fixture is open to all boys in the First to Fourth Forms and will take the form of a run for those who wish to represent the School. It is open to every single boy in these year groups. The format of the event is as follows: 

You will need to record the distance you are able to run in 20 minutes; this must be on Thursday i.e. today. You must submit this distance to Mr Cover by email before the end of Thursday at 9.00pm. This must be tracked on an App, a treadmill or the route you run in that time can be plotted using this website: https://gb.mapometer.com/

In terms of a result, the top three distances from each year group will be averaged and the school whose students achieved the highest average will take the win. There will also be a separate result based on how many students from each school participate, so every single entry counts, your entry is, therefore, genuinely important!

If you would like to take a photograph of yourself wearing RGS kit after you have finished the run, please email it to Mr Pressley on jwp@rgsg.co.uk .

The result of the fixture will be emailed to you all on Friday 8 May.

Let’s compete in numbers for our first ever remote fixture. Best of luck #RGSTogether #TeamRGS #WearItWithPride (GDGC). Manga Club: A reminder that we have a number of Manga titles for you to receive by mail. Please go the Manga & Anime Club Team for more information on how to choose and order. Please email ewm@rgsg.co.uk if you have any questions (EWM).
