General Reminders Expectations: Thank you for your engagement and positivity with the remote learning experience last week. We continue to have the very highest expectations of you, in terms of work as well as behaviour, irrespective of whether we are working together in close physical proximity or remotely. At the beginning of the week please can we reiterate these expectations (AUW): Attendance: Please ensure you are on time to registration in the morning and afternoon and also attend your lessons promptly, given there is at least a five-minute break in between each. Staff will be giving key instructions in the first two or three minutes of a lesson and do not wish to have to repeat themselves with boys drifting into lessons. Be ready one minute before the start time. Boys in all year groups are required to be present for the full lesson, engage with the tasks and activities, and be available throughout. Only leave the lesson when the teacher has indicated it has finished; normal etiquette is expected. Please email staff, as per usual, should you be missing a lesson for any reason e.g. illness or a music lesson. Communication: Please continue to use the school email system and the Team’s chat function appropriately. This is a professional working platform and should be treated as such, in the way you correspond. This is not a place for idle ‘banter’ or comments which you feel are humorous. Behaviour: We expect excellent behaviour at all times when interacting with members of the school community, staff or pupils. It is totally unacceptable to try and manipulate lessons by excluding boys, muting other students or staff. This demonstrates a complete lack of respect which goes against everything that we believe in as a school. All boys and staff should always expect to access the work and learning without fear of interruption due to poor behaviour. Consequences: Boys can expect sanctions should they not heed the advice given. These may include: a discussion with your Tutor; a written reflection or essay on expectations; a meeting with your Head of Year; a meeting with the Deputy Head; discussion with your parents; a meeting with Headmaster. The behaviour of the vast majority of you has been excellent; it only takes one or two students, however, to disrupt the learning of others. Thank you for your continuing co-operation and positivity during our period of Remote RGS (AUW).

Resource Spotlight Drama Online: You may have seen that some filmed theatrical performances from the National Theatre and Shakespeare’s Globe have been released on YouTube, but did you know that you can watch all of them and many more whenever you want? We have a subscription to Drama Online which includes all the Shakespeare’s Globe performances, and the National Theatre shows have been added until the end of May. This wonderful collection includes Derek Jacobi in King Lear, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller in Frankenstein and Jodie Whittaker and Christopher Eccleston in Antigone, as well as shows such as Peter Pan and The Winter’s Tale which were designed for younger audiences. To watch these, you will need to go via SharePoint, so may have to watch on your computer or project from it to your television. Just go to: https://teamrgs.sharepoint.com/sites/rgs/Academic/Library/SitePages/DramaResources.aspx …and click on Drama Online; you will be logged in automatically and will see Access provided by The Royal Grammar School, Guildford at the top of the page. Then search or choose the collection to browse from the central column on the Drama Online home page. As with all our subscription resources, login details must not be shared outside the RGS, but there is no reason why your family cannot watch with you (if they bring the popcorn). Enjoy! (TFF).
