Kristina Schweikert enters her sixth season as the head coach of the Adrian College softball team. The softball program has significantly improved under the direction of Coach Schweikert. Adrian has posted 20 or more wins in each of her five seasons and last year became the school’s all-time winningest coach passing Doug McDaniel (133 wins). The Bulldogs have an overall record of 142-60 and a 53-25 mark in the MIAA under Schweikert. The team has finished second place twice and has qualified for the MIAA Tournament every year under her direction. The Bulldogs completed a 23-17 season in 2012 and were 10-6 (3rd place) in the MIAA. Adrian picked up one win over a top 25 team with a 2-1 win over Trine in game two of a doubleheader on April 7. The Thunder were the only ranked team Adrian played in 2012. The team also picked up a win in the MIAA Tournament, 6-2, over Saint Mary’s on May 3. Adrian had a season-high five game win streak from April 19-26. The Bulldogs batted .289 as a team and ranked 62nd of 402 Division III teams with a 2.21 earned run average and 47th in fielding percentage (.962). In 2011, Adrian set a school-record with 35 wins and also set a school-record by beginning the season with 24 straight victories including a 14-4 drubbing of #4 Messiah on Feb. 28. The team did not finish as strong and missed out on the NCAA regionals dropping four of their last six games to end the season at 35-7. The team went 11-5 in the MIAA and finished third. In 2009, Schweikert guided the Bulldogs to a 34-8 overall record. The 34-win mark set an Adrian College team record at the time. The Bulldogs also set school records with 58 doubles as a team, and 515 total bases. Schweikert used the talented roster to make a splash in the 2009 NCAA Mideast Regionals held in Greencastle, Indiana. Adrian College represented the MIAA conference as the third-seed in the Central Region.

Under Schweikert, 12 players have been named First Team All-MIAA honorees, four players have been named All-Region and one has been named AllAmerican. The Rochester, N.Y. native took over the helm of the Bulldog softball program in 2008 after serving as an assistant coach at Siena Heights University. Schweikert brings a wealth of experience to Adrian College. A four-year letterwinner at Tiffin University (Ohio), Schweikert earned numerous accolades for her career with the Dragons as a first baseman and center fielder. She was named First Team All-Conference in 2004, 2005, and 2006. In her senior season alone, Schweikert was tabbed AMC Player of the Week, First Team All-Region, First Team NFCA All-American, First Team NAIA All-American, First Team Academic AllAmerican, and AMC North Player of the Year. Over her career with the Dragons, Schweikert broke several records including single season and career marks for walks and runs. While serving as an assistant coach at Siena Heights University, Schweikert helped coach two AllConference players and three NAIA Scholar Athletes. In addition to her coaching experience with the Saints, Schweikert has been a coach for young athletes at the National Youth Sports Program in Rochester, N.Y. and the LeMoyne College summer camps in Syracuse, N.Y. Schweikert graduated from Tiffin University in 2006 with a bachelor of arts in business administration with a concentration in sports management. We think “DIFFERENTLY.”

Jeffrey R. Docking President of Adrian College “Great things are happening here, and I would love for you to become a part of it. I am a firm believer that small liberal arts colleges like this one offer the best undergraduate education available and we at Adrian are determined to achieve excellence in this endeavor. I invite you to discover more about what can happen for you here. Learn about our small classes, about our devoted faculty who put students first, and about our dedication to helping you prepare for success. This is a place where you will discover your potential, and where you will leave your personal mark. If you become involved in all that Adrian has to offer, I am convinced that you will not only acquire the knowledge and skills for success well beyond college, but you will also find these next four years to be the most enjoyable and gratifying in your life.”

MiLes from Detroit

We are a campus of confidence, heart, and determination. We aren’t your average college experience ... we are distinctive. We are made up of achievers, believers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. We are more than simply a “small college,” we are the roots of change. We inspire, ignite, and grow here. It’s getting your master’s degree in five years; it’s being a scholar, an athlete, and a humanitarian ... but more than just a number.

Do you have the “bulldog mentality?” 16

It’s not about winning championships... but let’s face it, that is what we do here. We throw winning passes, hit home runs, score hat-tricks, and serve up wins in nearly every sport on campus. Maybe it’s because our athletes are strong — both in their sports and in their classes. The average GPA for our student athlete is above a 3.0, and with over 50% of our student body involved in some form of athletic activity, that says something. Actually, it says a lot.

We value a winning tradition on and off the court, the field, the ice or wherever our students spend their training time. Visit adrianbulldogs.com for more information
