COACHING STAFF Head Coach Rachel Cibulas
2nd Season (17-3) rcibulas@adrian.edu 517-265-5161 Ext. 4000 Rachel Cibulas, the 2012 MWLC Coach of the Year, is entering her second season with the Bulldogs. Her first season with the Bulldogs during the 2012 year proved to be very successful, as the team finished with a record of 17-3. The Bulldogs also captured the MWLC regular season and conference tournament titles for the second year in a row along with their second NCAA tournament appearance. Under Cibulas, the Bulldogs have had eight MWLC Players of the Week, six First Team All-Conference Players, two Second Team All-Conference Players and two IWLCA All-West Regional Players named during the 2012 season. Additionally, Cibulas coached senior Amanda Lambert, who ranked 15th nationally for ground balls during the 2012 season (66). Cibulas is no stranger to Adrian College as she served as assistant coach during the first year of the program’s existence in 2008. The Bulldogs compiled a 6-7 record during that season and Cibulas was largely responsible for recruiting one of the largest and most talented classes in NCAA Division III along with former head coach John Sung. Cibulas gained valuable experience during the 2011 season as the head coach at NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. Lenoir-Rhyne compiled a 6-10 record in their first year as a program under Cibulas. She was in charge of all facets of the program. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native coached a pair of teams in her hometown as assistant coach at Bethel Park High School in 2010 and as head coach of the Intrepid Girls Lacrosse Club from May 2009 to August 2010. While at Bethel Park, Cibulas helped the team to a four-win improvement going 10-6 in 2010. The squad also made its first-ever WPIAL playoff appearance and Cibulas coached three all-sectional players. Cibulas joined Slippery Rock University in June 2008 after leaving the Bulldog program. She was in charge of goalkeeping and defensive units for The Rock and coached two all-league student athletes. Cibulas played collegiately at Robert Morris University (Pa.) and was a letter-winner for the Colonials for two years. She was named team captain for both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons and was the first female player to sign a National Letter of Intent for the Colonial lacrosse program. Her grandfather Joseph, played professional football for the Pittsburgh Steelers. She graduated from Robert Morris University in May 2007 with a bachelor of science in business administration. She completed her Master of Science in sport management from Slippery Rock University in May 2010. She is a Registered Athletic Administrator through the N.I.A.A.A.
Assistant Coach Melissa Nakasuji
2nd Season mnakasuji@adrian.edu 517-265-5161 Ext. 5018 Melissa Nakasuji brings a variety of coaching experience to her job as assistant coach at Adrian College. Over the past eight years, she has coached peewee boys’ box lacrosse as well as U-15, U-17 and U-19 girls’ field lacrosse in Ontario, Canada. In 2011, she gained valuable experience completing a coaching internship at Limestone College under the guidance of head coach Scott Tucker. As a player, Nakasuji competed for Limestone College from 2008-11. While there, she helped lead the Lady Saints to four consecutive Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament championships. Nakasuji and the Lady Saints made appearances in the NCAA Division II Tournament each of her four years at Limestone, playing in the semi finals as a freshman and a sophomore, the quarter finals as a junior, and the national championship final as a senior. During her playing career at Limestone, the native of Ajax, Ontario, Canada played defense. She started 73 of the 77 games she played in and is currently ranked second all-time in time played with 4,187 minutes. In four seasons, she compiled 61 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 20 caused turnover and helped the Lady Saints to an impressive 67 wins. In her senior year, she served as team captain. As a result of her prowess on the field, Nakasuji garnered a number of individual awards throughout her career. In 2011, she was recognized as an All-American Honorable Mention by USACollegeLacrosse.com and was named to the IWLCA North-South All-Star game. She was named as an All-Conference Carolinas selection twice, in 2010 and 2011, and earned All-Tournament honors in 2011. In June 2012, Nakasuji graduated from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Education. MWLC Coach of the Year Rachel Cibulas - Adrian
Note: Albion canceled six of its MWLC matches, while the regular season contest between Fontbonne and Adrian was also canceled. We are a campus of confidence, heart, and determination. We aren’t your average college experience ... we are distinctive. We are made up of achievers, believers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. We are more than simply a “small college,” we are the roots of change. We inspire, ignite, and grow here. It’s getting your master’s degree in five years; it’s being a scholar, an athlete, and a humanitarian ... but more than just a number.
Do you have the “bulldog mentality?” 16

It’s not about winning championships... but let’s face it, that is what we do here. We throw winning passes, hit home runs, score hat-tricks, and serve up wins in nearly every sport on campus. Maybe it’s because our athletes are strong — both in their sports and in their classes. The average GPA for our student athlete is above a 3.0, and with over 50% of our student body involved in some form of athletic activity, that says something. Actually, it says a lot.
We value a winning tradition on and off the court, the field, the ice or wherever our students spend their training time. Visit adrianbulldogs.com for more information
