COACHING STAFF Mark White Head Coach 6th Season Adrian College ‘88 517-264-3978 mwhite@adrian.edu Mark White enters his sixth season as head coach of the Adrian College men’s basketball team in 2014-15. White has led a resurgence in the men’s basketball program at Adrian College. The team has posted 68 wins since his arrival and went 18-8 overall and 7-7 in the MIAA (third place) in 2012-13. The 18 wins were the most by a Bulldog men’s basketball team since the 1954-55 season (21-4). The team also went 17-9 overall and 9-5 in the MIAA in 2011-12 finishing second in the conference. It was the best finish by an Adrian College men’s basketball team in the MIAA since the 1978-79 season. In addition, Adrian pushed Hope College to overtime in the MIAA Tournament Final in Holland, Michigan narrowly missing out on the school’s firstever trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2012. The 35 wins was a two-year record for the basketball program. In four of the last five seasons, White has guided the Bulldogs to a .500 or better record. In 2010-11, Adrian was 13-13 overall and 7-7 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Bulldogs led the league in scoring defense allowing 56.9 points per game (a school record) and in rebounds with 31.6 a contest. In White’s first season in 2009-10, Adrian had a seven-win improvement and placed third in the MIAA standings. The third-place showing was the best finish in conference play for the Bulldogs since the 1987-88 season. Adrian finished 15-12 overall (9-5 MIAA) in 2009-10 with one of its biggest wins coming when it knocked off NCAA tournament participant Hope at the Merillat Center in late February. The Bulldogs finished the season by winning seven of their final 10 games. White was hired in May 2009 and quickly developed a gritty, hard-nosed mentality in his players. He meshed a group of 11 newcomers to help the Bulldogs put together a strong season. Adrian was the youngest team in the MIAA and exceeded preseason expectations. White is a 1988 graduate of Adrian College and was inducted into the College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He currently ranks fifth on the career charts in scoring with 1,454 points and is also the current holder of the all-time assists record. White comes to Adrian College after a very successful career as a prep coach in his hometown of Detroit, Mich. He compiled a record of 201-42 during his time as head coach at Renaissance High School and Southeastern High School. He coached two Michigan Class B High School State Championship teams at Renaissance in 2004 and 2006 and advanced

to the state semifinals four out of five seasons from 2002 to 2006. “Mark White is a well organized coach,” says University of Michigan men’s basketball coach John Beilein. “He is a great teacher of the fundamentals of the game. His energy and enthusiasm is contagious. I sense he has been a driving force in many players’ lives on and off the court. His accomplishments at Renaissance and Southeastern are a testament of his ability to produce championship contenders each year. He will be a great fit at his alma mater.” “Mark White is a great hire for Adrian College,” said Michigan State University men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo. “He’s won numerous championships in his career, but even more importantly, he wins the right way. He’s not going to be outworked and he spends time with his players, establishing very important relationships. I’ve recruited his players for several years, and academically and socially, they are always prepared for the next step in life.”
Gerrod Abram Assistant Coach 6th Season Boston College ‘94 517-265-5161 x. 4015 gabram@adrian.edu Gerrod Abram will enter his sixth season as an assistant basketball coach at Adrian College in 2014-15. Abram along with head coach Mark White have led a resurgence in the men’s basketball program at Adrian College. The team has posted a record of 68-62 over the past five seasons. The Bulldogs went 18-8 and 7-7 in the MIAA in 2012-13. The 18 wins were also the most by a Bulldog men’s basketball team since the 1954-55 season (21-4). The team also posted a 9-5 MIAA record during the 2011-12 season and were 17-9 overall. It was the best finish by an Adrian College men’s basketball team in the MIAA since the 1978-79 season. Back-to-back seasons of 35 total wins is the best two-year period in program history. Abram is instrumental in the development of the perimeter players and assisting in scouting, as well as recruiting. Prior to joining the Adrian College staff, Abram played professionally in Croatia, Greece, Israel, Italy, the Philippines and Spain from 1994-2006. He also played for the Harlem Globetrotters in 2001 and in the ABA for the Detroit Panthers in 2006-07.
