ARRINGTON ICE ARENA

Arrington Ice Arena was officially dedicated and opened for business on October 19, 2007 as the men’s NCAA hockey team squared off in their inaugural game against Potsdam State. The Bulldogs christened the new facility with a resounding 9-1 win in front of a packed crowd, who were also in attendance to see Lord Stanley’s Cup on loan from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. The facility is home to Adrian College’s men’s and women’s NCAA Division III hockey teams as well as the ACHA Division I and III men’s hockey teams, ACHA women’s hockey teams and the synchronized skating teams. The arena is named after Dr. Robyn J. Arrington, Jr. and his brother, fellow Adrian alumnus Harold M. Arrington. The brothers donated $3 million on behalf of their family. The $5.5 million project is also a place where local residents can use the facility for recreational activities. The operating schedule includes open skates for the community, learn-to-skate programs for children and adults and hockey programs for people of various ages and abilities. The arena consists of a single sheet of ice, 464 chair-back seats, a media press box, a president’s seating area, concession stand, pro shop with skate rental, offices for ice sports coaches and personnel and locker rooms. For more information about Arrington Ice Arena, visit the website at www.arringtonicearena.com. Arrington Ice Arena has already been praised as one of the best hockey venues in Division III. The arena has hosted such events as a Detroit Red Wing Alumni Game, numerous conference championships and NCAA tournament games. In addition, Arrington Ice Arena has played host to the 2010 and 2011 ACHA Division I All-Star Game and will host the U.S. Intercollegiate Figure Skating Championships in 2014.

His 100 wins total makes him the winningest coach in the short history of the program. Last season, Davis led the team to a 25-3-1 record, an NCHA regular season championship, Slaats Cup Championship and an NCAA tournament berth (the first tournament appearance for the team under Coach Davis and second in program history). The Bulldogs hosted the No. 2 ranked team in the East Region, Elmira, losing 3-1. The Bulldogs finished the second second in NCAA DIII in scoring offense (4.55 goals/game), fifth in scoring defense (1.31 goals allowed/game) and second in scoring margin beating teams by an average margin of 3.24 goals a game. Adrian also had the 11th best power play scoring 20.4% of the time and the ninth penalty kill, killing off penalties 89.8% of the time. Five Bulldog players, Kristin Lewicki, Kaylyn Schroka, Sydney Smith, Kristi Zink and Brooke Lupi (All-Freshman), were named to the All-NCHA team and Davis was named NCHA Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Five players were named to the D3Hockey.com All-Region West teams; Smith and Lewicki were named to the first team, Jade Walsh and Schroka to the second team and Logan Taylor to the third team. Smith and Lewicki were both named D3Hockey.com All-Americans and AHCA/ CCM Division III All-Americans. The Bulldogs finished the 2014-15 campaign with an overall record of 20-2-4 for an .846 winning percentage. He was also named the NCHA Coach of the Year for 2014-15 season. The season was highlighted by Adrian claiming its first Northern Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season championship and going undefeated in conference play (15-0-3). In 2014-15, the Bulldogs had the longest unbeaten streak in NCAA Division III at 21 games, going 18-0-3 during that span. The Bulldogs also gave up the fewest goals (33) in the country, while opponents netted more than two goals in a game only twice. The offense also shined by producing 102 goals, or 3.92 per game, for fourth in Division III. The combined special teams ranked first nationally, which included the top power play unit at 29.9 percent (35-for-117). Moreover, Adrian College played an opponent from every conference while outscoring their non-NCHA opponents 25-6. Five Bulldogs made the All-NCHA team, including sophomore goaltender Jade Walsh who attainted CCM All–America West Second Team status. Davis
