WHAT IS GIVE IT A GO WEEK? At RGU, there are a wide range of activities that students can get involved in, whether it is societies, sports clubs, student media, or otherwise! The amount of opportunities avaliable are endless! Give It A Go Week is your opportunity to find out a little bit more about all these different groups and what they do without the pressure to commit. The week is packed full of fun and exciting events that everyone is welcome to come along to!

WHY Get INVOLVED? Most of the groups at RGU are voluntary and some have a membership fee to cover their costs and support their activities. However, you should not let this put you off! Being a part of any of these groups comes with countless benefits. Everything from making new friends, to developing new skills, to gaining experience. Furthermore, because you are volunteering, you’ll be able to register for Saltire or MV Award schemes to collect volunteering awards. You could also be entered to win awards at the Student Achievement Awards Ball, or even particupate in the Extra-Curricum Awards programme to gain an extra fifteen credits on your degree!

KEY

There are so many benefits, but the main one is that it is great fun!

Nightline and Go Green RGU:Nightline is a student-led peer to peer helpline that offers a non-judgemental, confidential and annoymous listening and support service to students at Robert Gordon University outside of University academic hours (operation 8:00pm - 8:00am) Our specially trained student volunteers recognise that university is a time of many changes and challenges and can empathise with callers. They don’t judge; they don’t give advice; and they certainly don’t tell callers what to do - they just listen. Best of all, Nightline is confidential and anonymous, meaning students accessing the service don’t even have to give their name. The service will be launching in semester one, and there are a number of ways in which students can get involved. Nightline are recruiting for students to be anonymous listeners who will recieve full training, or front-facing volunteers who help support and promote the service. If you’re interested in learning more, then get in touch!

nightline@RGUUNION.CO.UK | Facebook.com/rgunightline | twitter.com/rgunightline RGU Go Green is an initiative that provides students with the opportunity to significantly reduce the environmental impact of the university whilst gaining valuable experience and qualifications. There are number of projects, such as the energy ambassador scheme, where you learn to effectivly increase energy efficiance, there is the bike hire scheme, where you can rent a bike for easy and affordable transport, you can help with RGU’s own food co-operative and work in the community garden and help sell veg bags or even take part in the Halls Energy Challenge!
