MONTHLY REPORT (Ref.001) NAME: Paul Greene ELECTED POST: President (Communications & Democracy) DATE: 28/01/15 Update and achievements from previous month Community -

Met with Vonnie Sandelan, NUS Women’s officer and Kirsty Haigh, NUS Scotland VP (Communities) to discuss campaigns – Stop Student Poverty and Fossil Free Campaign.

-

Met with Rob Henthorn, NUS Scotland & AUSA, with regards to joint-campaigns for the rest of the year including a general election awareness campaign and the living rent campaign.

-

Met with breathing space alongside Stevie Kearney, to work out how we can promote their work with suicide prevention.

-

Met with ICRGU with others, to work out how we can best work together to ensure their students are represented. Also put in plans to work together during refreshers week.

-

Attended exec away day in Dundee and created an interim strategic plan. Spoke about this further at the trustee board.

Engagement -

Went ‘GOATING’ and ‘GOALING’ to raise awareness of ‘Stop Student Poverty’ campaign. Collated around 70 signatures.

Appointed a new Gray’s placement student for Student Media.

-

Organising and promoting refreshers week 2015.

-

Gave a brief talk at student buddy training to introduce the Union, and how we can support buddies.

Representation -

Represented student body on a range of working groups including


student partnership ‘building atmospheres theme’, student transitions meetings and the on-going ‘student facing review of IT resources’ group. Also met with estates on a number of issues including catering and microwaves, international student short life working group, and had meetings with student help point. -

Represented RGU at ‘living rent’ campaign demonstration and meeting in Edinburgh.

Support -

Usual weekly comms on social media with 'Wired' going out to students on a Monday to provide updates on ways students can get involved with Union and promote the services we offer.

Supported ‘Go Green’ with the new funding allocation PR and spoke to various media outlets including STV, Original 106 and the Evening Express.

Attended Glasgow Caledonian University’s ELIR review, stage 1.

Purchased RGU:Radio (.co.uk) domain for 2 year period.

Development -

Drafted remit and advertised student internship for ‘student activities officer’

Outline and plan, with timeline, for current month -

Launch Refreshers Week 2015 – 1st Week Feb.

To further advance student media - RGU:Radio, Radar and TV, including having a re-launch of RGU TV – Feb.

To 'GOAT' and 'GOAL' more, with some specific actions to speak to people about upcoming campaigns and elections – Monthly from Feb.

Represent student body on a range of University committees and working groups – Throughout Feb

Organise initial promotion for AGM, student elections, SA awards ball, I love my lecturer and the general election campaign – Feb.
