MONTHLY REPORT NAME: Vinny O’Donovan ELECTED POST: President (Sport & Physical Activity) DATE: 23/10/2014 Update and achievements from previous month Community • During Freshers week I organised the sports day tournament for everyone to take part in a variety of sports. • With help of Terry Knight, we have arranged table tennis to be played in the halls on a rota basis. • Myself and Filippo, have organised a table tennis class and training session on Tuesday nights for everyone to play and learn. • Myself and Ant have discussed that the RGU Mountain biking club should run the bike hire scheme. Engagement • Freshers week ice breakers, freshers fayer, Sports Day Tournament and currently promoting intramural sports. • Attended a range of inductions to introduce students to the Union. • Organised a presidents training day to train up the new presidents of sport clubs. Personal objectives/Manifesto update -I have improved accessibility to physical activity with the table tennis on
tour system. Similarly, Bike hire scheme has aided improvement in Physical activity. However these must be monitored to measure progress and success I have spoken with nutrition society and weightlifting club, we will be trying to organise some a seminar. By setting up the intramural sport and Lacrosse it has helped not only to promote physical activity but increase sport interest to the community. Team objectives/progress update • •
