Through working together in partnership between students and staff, we shall be able to create a vibrant learning community.


Our Student Partnership Agreement outlines how students, represented by RGU:Union, and staff, represented by Robert Gordon University, will meaningfully collaborate to improve the student learning experience. The agreement aims to establish an ethos of partnership at all levels of the university where students are active and valued participants in enhancing university life. Both RGU and RGU:Union set strategic priorities to engage in partnership activities. RGU - Student Experience ‘Stimulate students to participate actively in the continuing development of the university community’ RGU:Union - Your Voice ‘To working in partnership with the university, and external stakeholders, to enhance the representation of student views, and to support students to actively engage in a broad range of campaign activities. 3


We hope that through engagement, we can support and enhance each student’s personal and professional development through the provision of extensive extra curricular activities, making them feel part of a supportive learning community.

Core Values The culture of partnership is based on the empowerment and engagement of both parties. The core values the relationship is built on would include: transparency, trust, valued, honesty, and the appreciation of the validity of both perspectives and that both students and staff are learners.

Part One outlines how students and staff will work together to share feedback, engage in decision making and make changes. There are a number of both formal and informal opportunities for students and staff to work together with the University and Union. Through building these core processes, it will allow a culture of partnership to develop throughout the institution.

Part Two outlines key objectives which the University and Union aim to work on to improve the learning community at RGU.

Enhancement Objectives Enhancement objectives are outlined by listening to various feedback recieved and deciding some focused projects to work on. RGU:Union and RGU explore these thematic issues and develop projects, campaigns and ideas to make practical changes to improve experiences of students.

Part Three outlines the changes and impact made from the partnership activities. Through the process of providing feedback and undertaking enhancement activities, a number of valuable and significant changes have been made which improve the student experience. The final part of the partnership journey is implementing positive changes, and communicating the improvements to the student community.
