Cross Country post-season
Boy’s and Girl’s Cross Country teams make it to state BY MADDI DUKE Cross country post-season includes regionals, state, and for Tess Crosley (9), the Race of Champions.
Helping Girl’s Cross Country qualify for state, Raegan Fiasco (11) and Emily Ervin (10) run in Regionals.
The girls’ team finished 3rd at regionals, qualifying them for state. Adding to the success of the team, Tess finished first overall in the Regional race. While at state on October 31, the girls team finished 4th with Tess Crosley finishing 2nd in 5A overall and first for the Kelley team with a time of 19:35. Taking 18th overall, Mary Ziegler ran a time of 20:58 at state. Finishing in the top 10, she qualified to run in the all star race on Saturday, November 7. In this race she earned 6th place against 48 girls.
The boys team finished 5th place at regionals, also qualifying them for state. In the results of the race BK got 10th, while Claremore took home 1st. Leading the boys team was Manny Montanez, finishing in 40th place with a time of 17:49. He was followed by Bridger Rives earning 49th place at 17:54.
Helping the team qualify for state, Ryan Evans (11) runs a time of 18:18.
Route 66 marathon
Boy’s Cross Country team members compete in the annual Route 66 Marathon BY MAY SEIGEL The 10th Anniversary Williams Route 66 Marathon was held on November 22 and some of the boys from the Cross Country team took on the race like champs. This marathon is a Boston-qualifying race and is ran on a USATAF certified course winding through 26.2 miles of the most historic and scenic streets of Tulsa. “I continued to train as soon as the cross country season ended by increasing the weekly mileage,” Ryan Evans (11) said. On the other hand, Jonah Jones (12) said that training was not complicated. “Step one, you start running,” Jones said. These races are nothing new

prepared, Tran still felt like he did “pretty well”. Jones and Tran ran alongside each other throughout the race to provide support and some friendly competition for one another and ended up performing their best in different parts of the race. Being that the first half was his “strongest”, Tran maintained a lead above Jonah but after “cramping up”, lost his lead as Jones caught up. Evans finished up with in about 3 hours and 57 minutes and Evans and Tran both finished in about 4 hours and 26 minutes. “If you want to run a marathon, do your research,” said Evans.
