Organised by Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, co-organised by the Hong Kong China Rowing Association with endorsement from the Hong Kong Water Sports Council. The St. James’s Place 6th Harbour Regatta was the first on-water regatta in the year successfully held on 28 May. It was excited to see approximately 155 rowers representing various local university and community clubs gathered at the club and back on the water!

Charlie Fisher, a Cambridge Blue rower in the winning crew in The Boat Race 2016, was a spotlight amongst others in the Regatta, he said after the Harbour Regatta: “It was great to be involved with the Harbour Regatta on Saturday 28 May. Although I have previously rowed for Cambridge in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race, and as a junior for Great Britain, this was my first regatta in Hong Kong and only my second time in a costal boat. The venue in Victoria Harbour is truly special, flanked by hills and skyscrapers on both sides. It certainly beats the monotony of a normal 2km course, particularly given the two hard turns around buoys and sprint nature of the regatta. I was lucky enough to race in a single, double, and quad and so it was a very busy day on the water. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many different people at RHKYC as a result. The event was impeccably well run by a dedicated group of volunteers and staff. We all enjoyed the medal ceremony and drinks on the rooftop (thank you Peroni) after racing had

I hope to be involved with more events at RHKYC like this!” The race was divided into categories of Coastal Single Sculls, Coastal Double Sculls and Coastal Coxed Quadruple Sculls. These were then subdivided into Open, Women, Junior, and Master classes. The 630m course, including two turns, was situated at the stretch of open water between Kellett Island and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

in Wan Chai. All 51 races were sprint races in a knock-out format with two rowing crews racing against each other. The winning crew progressed to the next round of the event until the Champion was crowned. Out of the twelve final events, RHKYC rowing teams captured nine champions in the Women's Open 1x, Open 2x, Women’s Open 2x, Open Masters B 2x, Mixed 2x, Junior 4x+, Open 4x+, Women’s Open 4x+ and the Open Masters B 4x+.
We would like to once again thank all the volunteers who gave up their time to make this event possible, our title sponsor St. James’s Place, co-organiser Hong Kong, China Rowing Association, event partner Peroni and last but certainly not least the full team of Marine, F&B, House, Technical and Rowing staff that worked to make this event a success.
