Author’s Note

Hello to all Doggy Buddies: Here I am again---Luie Boone! It is time for another magazine filled with dog-friendly vacations! And I am all set to share them with you. Please enjoy my 13th volume of WAGGERS WELCOME. This volume is full of some of the best places to visit for me and my humans. I have kept to the same set-up, so not to complicate things for readers. Please, again, note that each vacation destination is broken into four sections. First, being an explanation on each vacation location. Second, is the description of the vacation rental our family will happily stay at. Each family member will have their own sleeping quarters. Other amenities are included. I have, in addition, added a personal saying to each description and do hope you take a moment to enjoy my expression of each place. The 3rd page stays committed to each specific location with 3 dog-friendly activities, 1 dog-friendly eating site and 1 unique dog feature about the vacation spot. I do end every section with a map from our home city of Hortonville, Wisconsin to each destination. This includes miles driving and hours on the road,

(courtesy of Bing Maps: “ Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions. ” Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions. N.p., n.d.Web. 30 May 2015. https://www.bing.com/maps/.) Also, dog-friendly lodgings (if needed on the way) and my own pet peeve, about the location, are included. I am still learning about all the places my dog friends can visit and am still working on getting myself and my owners to travel to each and every location. Please enjoy my 13th magazine! Your friend,

Luie Boone

THE BEST VACATION PLACE FOR YOU AND YOUR DOG IS SARANAC LAKE, NEW YORK

Nestled in the Adirondack Mountains, in far upstate New York, Saranac Lake “started drawing visitors, in the late 19th century, and still continues to attract them today.” “There is fun and scenic beauty to be found in every direction.” Find this with your dog! Whether it’s sitting in one of the dog-friendly village parks or strolling along a dog-friendly trail “there will be more than enough to fill your time.” The area is “loaded” with dog-friendly hiking trails and dog-friendly canoe routes, in “beautiful waters” ---do it “at your own pace.” But, “don’t even think of staying inside” as Saranac Lake is ready to “charm you” and your dog.

WHEN YOU GO TO BUFFALO NATIONAL RIVER, ARKANSAS

Get “a warm welcome and lots of happy adventures” when you take your dog to vacation on “America’s First National River”. “Established in 1972”, Buffalo National River, located in Northern Arkansas, flows “freely” for 135 miles, through the “most scenic” section of the Ozark Mountains. This “perfect year-round destination” offers not only floating with your dog on the river but “over” 100 miles of trails for you and your dog to use and these are “just some of the outdoor adventures.” This is “the place for you” and your dog to see!

Luie says: “When we vacation here we are going to be able to hang out in a cave. Old Prospector’s Cave, from the Old Big Bell Panther Mine on Panther Creek, is right on the property here. It is a primitive camping site. There is a picnic table and an outside fire-pit. It even has an outhouse. We could, even, stay there overnight, if we wished. We will need to be sure our campfire is completely out and put the picnic table back in its original position. We will need to remove all our trash – if any- and not bury it. I will really have to ask Rachel to talk to Brooke about an overnight stay there.”
