Focus on Site Safety Recent Key Stage 3 assemblies have focused on the theme of safety on building sites. We are currently undergoing some construction work and scaffolding is in place on various buildings. Dave from Seddon Group, the company

School Announcements School will close for the half term break on Friday 10th February at 3pm. We will re-open on Monday 20th February. From September, Year 11 will wear a grey V neck jumper with black detailing around the V. This is a colour reversal of the jumper worn by Years 7 to 10 and will help to give Year 11 their own identity while at the same time ensuring they look smart. Jumpers will be available from our uniform retailers over the Summer holidays. On the theme of looking smart, parents and carers are reminded that only natural haircolours are acceptable in school and that hairstyles should not be extreme. Guidance on our uniform is on the school website, but please contact your child’s Year Leader if would like any further clarification. Our Bag2school collection in October raised over £340. The second collection, in March is hoping to raise a similar amount. For more information about what items you can send, please visit our website. Following the recent Parent Governor election we received one nomination. We therefore declare that Mrs C Duxbury has been elected to serve on the Governing Body for the next four years.
Australia Day! January 26th was Australia Day, and all week Year 7s have been celebrating with the Australia Day Curriculum Olympics. The staff ate various Australian food including lamingtons, ANZAC biscuits, pavlovas and vegemite! Students also made posters about Australian animals and the “flip flop throw”, and had to put up with Miss Bedwell boasting all day about the Ashes results from the last 30 years (Eng 5 – Aus 10!).
Year 8 Pendle Adventures As part of Elective Learning Year 8 have had the opportunity to plan and carry out their own expedition to Pendle Hill. They have worked really hard and produced some excellent pieces of work to accompany their expedition! We’ve had a great time on the trips themselves - we’ve encountered all types of weather since the first trip in October - sun, rain, wind, hail and snow! But Year 8 were prepared for any weather - layering up with fleeces, hats, gloves, coats and even bringing flasks of hot chocolate! The walk that we planned took us up to the Ogden Reservoirs and we saw some fantastic scenery... not to mention less spectacular sights - such as delivery vans precariously making their way across parts of Pendle, lots and lots of sausage rolls and random people walking in the snow in shorts!
