World Book Day

Thursday 07 March is World Book Day. To celebrate we are inviting students to come to school dressed up as a book character, for example Gangsta Granny, Harry Potter etc. The character must have an actual costume, not a character that wears their own clothes, e.g. jeans, t-shirt and trainers. This is open to all year groups, as a way to celebrate reading. The emphasis is placed on pupils wearing a costume rather than their regular clothes, as students are already rewarded each half term with a non-uniform day. Students coming to school in costume should bring with them a £1.00 donation. A variety of other activities will be taking place at school to celebrate World Book Day. Furthermore, I would like to inform you that as of next week, pupils in all year groups will need to have a book with them at all times as part of their equipment. This can be one that they bring from home, borrow from our library or from their English teacher, who will provide them with a book this week if required. This is to celebrate reading across the curriculum and to support our ethos as a ‘Reading School’. Yours sincerely, Mrs D Hanson School Librarian
