Crawford Partnership Ltd was established in 1997 as a design led architectural and interior design practice. Since then we have grown into a 10 strong team of Architects, Interior designers and technicians and are currently located in our own purpose build offices in North London developed by the practice.
We enjoy a rich variety of work ranging from domestic residential extensions and new builds, to basement construction, hotels, apartments, developments and schools. We have worked extensively in conservation areas and on many listed buildings and crown estate properties in some of Londons most prestigious areas. Our projects are driven by a clear and concise design philosophy that is concerned creating unique interesting spaces that combine dramatic materials and exploiting natural light wherever possible whilst at the same time aware of cost from the outset of the design process. We also put a strong emphasis on the sustainability of our projects, from the materials we specify and the renewable technologies employed, to the energy efficient design and methods of prefabricated construction. We believe a sustainable approach to the design is vital from the outset of the process from conception and throughout the project life. Sustainability is becoming more and more important in the construction industry and we have a number of developments which adhere to various levels of “Code for Sustainable Homes” criteria and also “PassivHaus” philosophy. The practice has developed strong relationships with many local suppliers and also works closely with contractors and fellow construction professionals locally in many of its projects. Our growing business has also been recognised in the Architectural and Business press over the past few years winning awards ranging from Interior Design and Bathroom design to being labelled by WALLPAPER* magazine, as ‘one of 101 of the worlds most exciting new architects.

Harpenden 1 Complete refurbishment of large 1930’s house in conservation area. The works included remodelling the interior of the house and constructing a new basement under the garden to provide additional living and sleeping accommodation. The basement is access via 2 separate staircase and centres around a large central lightwell allowing natural light to stream into the basement. The garden was designed by Chelsea Flower show gold medallist Paul Cooper.

To maximise space on the first floor, the ensuite bathroom was pushed outside and contained within a new glazed pod rear extension. This hovers over an outside terrace, sitting on glassblocks allowing daylight to filter through to the spaces below.

This project in the heart of Chelsea involved demolition of an existing mews house retaining only the original facade. The replacement house includes a new basement level, roof terrace and glazed bathroom ‘pod’ at first floor level.
