Worked on many successful school and mixed-use development bids later developed through to planning and tender submissions around London by the office and I became an active member and asset of many design teams and consultations.

Extension to a Victorian school in Camden - from concept sketches through to tender drawing preparation and on-site construction experience unlocking the school’s existing restrictive organisation by relocating vertical access, office spaces, staff room and new arts room in extension.

Byron Court - Harrow Leisure Led Development Invitation to Tender Experience

Site plan - developing relationships between front doors, landscape and public realm

Working as part of a 3 office design team, collaborating to develop a masterplan for a leisure centre, 620 unit housing scheme, community facilities and public realm. Housing blocks designed in accrodance with London Housing guidelines and with a range of typologies and tenures. The scheme was developed as a critique to previous scheme in order to distill qualities and constraints of the site and surrounding context.

Growing a Bio-rock Bridge in the Panama Canal A Bio-material Study of Mineral Accretion

Solidworks_Inspire - refining parameter inputs through structural analysis of optimised forms

Developing the most structurally optimal and materially efficient single span bridge - iterative process displayed through a series of 26 SLS 3D prints - process refined through altering mass targets, original mass form, support points and their locations, rigidity and tolerance.

Animated and occupied Biorock Bridge - grown in the Panama Canal chambers to span and reconnect a disjointed people and communities in Panama - total span of 320m with a 28m wide road and pedestrian deck, a maximum depth of 30m based on growth parameter of Canal chamber with a clearance of 65m from water level. Bridge is transported along the Canal as a single object and then fixed to pre-installed concrete abutments with deep pillar foundations in the hillsides. Poured concrete infill is then used as a keystone to level and anchor the bridge into position

Part I Assistant 2012 - 2013 Newcastle Workspace + Private Residential Experience

RIBA stages 0 - 3 Concept design, planning submissions D+A Reports, drawing production Visualisations, diagramming Technical drawings for bespoke joinery Site visits and client meetings Worked ranged from a ÂŁ6million graphic and communication hub in Middlesbrough providing micro-offices, to student accommodation in Durham, ÂŁ10 million sustainable workspaces in Blyth and private residential extensions.

Boho 5 micro-offices - developed from concept to planning submission with contained offices designed around an unheated core to maximise affordable floor spaces. I was responsible for producing the visualisations, diagrams, elevation and site plan drawings for the D+A statement, a successful planning submission and for public consultation, of which I attended.

Invitation to workshop in Ljubljana Working in collaboration with two friends from Newcastle University during our year out. Designing a cycle pit stop in Slovenia using only three containers and Trimo products. Through successful co-ordination our proposal was commended, and rewarded with a trip to Slovenia to take part in an international workshop exploring modular architecture.

Adaptable furniture

The proposal envisaged an innovative use of folding panels to provide stepped access up a steep bank to the ‘pit-stop’ facilities, which also provided an easy-to-secure building envelope at night. The cantilevered box was designed to be a beacon along a heavily used cycle route.

Projected Morphology: A Cyclotel Created From Perspectives Commendation

RIBA Presidents Medal Bronze Award

New spatial interventions on the site of the demolished Gateshead car park were developed and tested through the projection and layering of abstracted photographic fragments taken by Sally Ann Norman. Site strategies, drawings and models were distilled utilising an OHP projector.

The wall projections and trace drawings provided the base on which to mould and develop a landscape and architectural form on the car park site. Through interpretation of the drawings, and the identified central weight of the projections, a dramatic landscape and impact began to emerge, particularly evident when modelled in 3 dimensions.


At the depths of the Cyclotel, the concrete mass of the spine wall stands permanent anchoring the centralised stair and bicycle conveyor. Hanging walkways thread through the steel framed workshops, acting as veins - connecting the architectures. Towards the base, materiality mirrors the descending roughness of bicycle production, from the pristine stainless steel retail units to the worn steel of the scrapyards.


The concrete masses of the Cyclotel sit embedded in a landscape fragmented under compression and impact, determined by projected site drawings. This perspective shows the datum that determines the flatness of the Cyclotel, allowing the workshops to take advantage of the existing slope to rise above eye level as accessible spaces.
