It’s not always easy to attract good attention to yourself. If you’re up for a job interview, you want to be memorable. Short of doing headstands, you need to make things right. First impressions are important because you’ll be up against other applicants who want the job just as badly. You may not always get the job. It’s easy to assume that your fate lies somewhere else, but when the position your eyeing is amazing, you’d also want to do your best to get hired. Don’t screw up your first interview. Someone else may get the job but at least you know you’ve tried your best. More importantly, your chances are just so much better if you follow a certain protocol.
Before you even walk through the door, be confident. Know what your skills are and let them know that you can do great things for the company simply because you can. So, send your resumes and wait for the calls to come. Make plans for your future because you can go further if you just believe in your abilities. Once you get the schedule for an interview, be on time. Punctuality is always a big plus. You may have to wait for your name to be called, but people are already taking note of the time you arrive. Be at the venue at least 15 minutes before the time so that you can also gather your thoughts and mentally go through the questions while waiting.
Companies who are interested in you would like to know more about your talents, skills, and achievements. When they ask for certain documents, have your papers ready. Important documents include your CV, letter of intent, list of references, and ID. You shouldn’t prepare all these on the day itself. Rather, already have them stored in your hard drive. Have a backup copy as well in you’re your computer crashes. And from time to time, update them so that you

can just print them out when you need them.
Companies appreciate individuals who do research on their vision. This is a good way to align your goals with that of the company you’re applying for. Unexpected questions might come up during the interview, and when are able to answer them all efficiently, you’ll definitely be memorable. Think of it this way: how can you stand out? Other people want the job just as badly as you do. So, you can expect them to give equally good answers. Think of ways to be unique, but at the same time, stay true to your goals.
When speaking during your interview, switch off your cellular phones. You don’t want to be distracted in the middle of speaking. Plus, it just doesn’t look good when your phone keeps beeping. As you answer, look at them straight in the eye and speak the truth. Your interviewer isn’t just looking at what you say. They try to read body language as well. Take advantage of the time you have and be sincere. Practice with a friend because this will greatly help you.
