Co - l i v i n g S l i p p e r s Household management system for health & life
Design Background
Cross-Generational Co-Living Cross-generational co-living is a new living pattern that deals with aged society. Through making young old generation roommates,cross-generational communication and resource sharing are expected to be achieved.
Does it fit? Taiwan is facing a crisis of aging society as well. However, the software and hardware of Taiwan’s are distinct from those of the mentioned countries’. Plus, the society is still unfamiliar with the concept of cross-generational co-living. We need to figure out how to transplant this prevailing living pattern to Taiwan.
Design Goal After understanding the residents’ view deeper, we found out what they expected was a natural living environment built without specific purpose. We considered that establishing household health system should make the residents feel comfortable and relieved. As slippers play an essential role for household lives, we made the most usual product the medium of health management and life record.
Product Overview Co-living Slippers are composed by smart slippers, a charing board, bluetooth beacons, and the APP. Inside the slippers is the sensor insole, which conducts gait analysis and records life trace at home. Through the APP, users are enabled to instantly acquire health and living information with ease.
Gait Analysis Gait analysis systematically measures, describes, and evaluates the parameter involved in human action. Everyone has different walking habits. The walking posture influences the mechanical situation of our lower limbs when walking. Based on biomechanics, we use the sensors in the sole to measure the force distribution and balance while walking, conduct gait analysis after transferring which into visible scientific data. Via comparing personal data with Big Data, the product can help diagnose hip-ankle-foot diseases, frailty, neurodegenerative diseases, and so on.

Daily Life Routine Record The locator inside the sole is connected with the Bluetooth positioning system arranged in the house, so the position of the slippers is known by distance analysis. The users’ routine in the house is analyzed by where they have been to and by the timing of wearing and taking off the slippers. For example, the routine includes when they arrive home, sleeping time, and solitary time. Moreover, the locators would sense each other to record the interactions between the residents. The APP would visualize the records, allowing the users to grasp their life routine on a weekly basis.
UI Design Specification Due to the comfor table feeling towards home, we make the user interface clean and simple. While displaying the

UI Design Detail - User Page The user can set up personal settings in the page, such as changing users’ names, and choosing colors of slippers which the user wears. Meanwhile, user’s personal infomation will update in every single page and be saved to the user’s default database.
