MP’s vote makes youth quit
Open letter to MP Kenny Chiu and Youth Council Members:
Recently, it has come to our attention that, on June 22, 2021, MP Kenny Chiu voted against a ban on conversion therapy. The subject of the vote was an act to amend the Criminal Code regarding conversion therapy, a dangerous and disproven practice that is responsible for greater rates of attempted suicide among LGBTQ2S+ youth. Regarding the vote, MP Chiu remarked, “the definition in [the bill] was so poorly worded, so unsound, that any rational individual would recognize it as an empty virtu[e] signal.” As members and allies of the LGBTQ2S+ community, we find his rationale to be an excuse for the continuation of his past homophobic behaviour; the actions of MP Chiu speak far louder than his words.
Despite being the MP for Steveston-Richmond East and Shadow Minister for Diversity, Inclusion, and Youth, he has failed to support the educational Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) policy introduced in Richmond. Attendance at an anti-SOGI meeting as recently as 2019 indicates his true stance. Once again, actions speak louder than words. It is hypocritical of MP Chiu to state support of causes like inclusion and mental health while making decisions like his aforementioned vote that harm the same communities he claims to champion.
On his website, he insists he “is firmly against the harmful practice of conversion therapy,” contrary to claiming “professional support, parental counselling, and religious commu-

nity guidance freely chosen by LGBTQ2[S+] Canadians to limit sexual behaviour or de-transition [should not] fall under the government’s broad definition of conversion therapy.” Essentially, by saying LGBTQ2S+ people are able to “limit” their “sexual behaviour” or “de-transition,” he is perpetuating the myths driven by homophobia that sexual orientation and gender identity are a personal choice (e.g., someone who is homosexual can “revert” or “choose” to be less so). Furthermore, MP Chiu promises, “if this legislation does not pass before the next election, a Conservative government, with the support of MP Kenny Chiu, will ban all forms of the immoral practice of conversion therapy.”
Clearly, he will only claim support for banning “all forms” if it favours him politically, not to ad-
vocate for his constituents.
Our intentions for joining this council were to work on engaging and empowering all youth in Richmond; this youth advisory council was meant to provide MP Chiu with our perspective on issues so that he could make decisions that aligned with youth. Instead, we were faced with the opposite. At present, our continued participation in this council would make us enablers of actions that harm those we call our family, friends and neighbours. Therefore, we will no longer participate in this council and prompt our fellow council members that support the LGBTQ2S+ community to do the same.

Cooling time limits Dear Editor, Here is a question, where is the cooling centre in Richmond? The temperature is reaching 40C as I’m typing. You’d think a library would be a good place to spend a couple of hours. No! I got kicked out because I wasn’t using their computer for a quick browse. I was told by staff if you want to cool off, you can stay for an hour, then leave. Is that just because COVID-19 restrictions? Where is our compassion? A library is a place for old and young, rich and poor. It was my favourite place, but today I was not allowed to sit there.

Graves enrage reader Trees vital to battle heat Dear Editor,
Re: “Facts amiss in Kamloops,” Letters, June 24 Although David Baines starts out with the truth that “Indian residential schools were a disgrace, in principle and practice,” he completely erases all that by looking for inaccuracies in media reporting. To which I say: Who cares?! What’s really important here is that after six years of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s report being released, it took a grave for people to finally listen!
You want exact numbers of bodies at a residential school? Listen to yourself!
The fact that there is even one body found at a school should enrage you! Imagine if all our schools had graveyards on the premises. That would be concerning, would it not? Perhaps, you should try focusing on listening to those who have been trying to tell us for so long. Their stories of what they went through are fact. June 30 wasn’t the only day to listen — everyday is.

Dear Editor,
Last summer some trees had their leaves turn yellow and fall to the ground. It’s happening again. The rust coloured leaves on the ground at the library and in the parks make it seem like fall’s here. Fall? In summer? This summer seems to be shaping up to be one for the record books, and not in a good way. The intense heat hurts trees and makes them more susceptible to pests like aphids and other insects. The trees are our friends. They’re VIPs in the battle against climate change, patiently capturing and storing carbon dioxide. Compare how refreshing it feels to sit under a canopy of trees in the park with the heat blasting you get while walking among concrete and glass high-rises. My aunt lives in a house on a tree-lined street in Vancouver. She sailed through the recent heat wave. Her home was cool.
the charts.
Yes, when they built this building in the sixties, they never dreamed we’d have temperatures like this. We have to protect our mature trees. I would ask city hall to please make sure the trees have enough water. Treegators, or watering bags, are perfect for helping trees survive this hot summer. The trees are in distress. If summer continues on this hot trajectory, we may lose some of those trees. I would also ask city hall to value mature trees when they’re approving new developments. Mother trees are vital in protecting biodiversity. It can take at least 50 years to replace trees that help combat climate change. Will we heed dollar signs or the flashing red signs of climate change? For our grandchildren’s sake, I hope we act on stopping climate change. Let’s protect everyone who’s vulnerable in this heat: people, pets and trees.
My apartment on the other hand was an oven. I don’t know how hot it was because the little pointer on my thermostat was off

10 sudden deaths during heat wave
There were 10 sudden deaths in Richmond between June 26 and July 1 during an extreme heat wave, a number higher than normal, according to the Richmond RCMP.
The BC Coroners Service, however, is still determining the causes and manner of the Richmond sudden deaths, RCMP clarified.
A heat wave hit B.C. Chuchart Duangdaw/Getty Images
But Lisa Lapointe, the provincial chief coroner, said the high number of sudden deaths in B.C. last week seems to be related by the heat.
Temperatures in Richmond reached the mid-30 Celsius, while the highest temperature ever recorded in Canada was surpassed in Lytton at 49.6 degrees Celsius, shortly before the town was largely destroyed in a wildfire.
BC Coroners Services reported there were possibly 719 sudden deaths in B.C. between June 25 and June 30, the peak of the heat wave, triple the number usually reported in this time period, explained Lapointe. — Maria Rantanen/Richmond News
Seniors seek relief Maria Rantanen MRANTANEN@RICHMOND-NEWS.COM
Vera Janosek lives in a 55+ building and when the heat wave hit last week, she started googling where in Richmond she and other seniors in her building could find a cooling centre. She was out of luck. No extra cooling centres were set up in Richmond as the city claimed it was restricted by COVID-19 physical distancing public health orders — even though Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) put out a bulletin June 25 saying the risk from the heat exceeded the risk of COVID-19. Regardless, the city claimed it was under provincial health orders, not those of VCH. When asked by the Richmond News, the province said VCH did have “jurisdiction over guidelines.” Moreover, other municipalities including Vancouver, acted on the VCH bulletin and set up cooling centres for their residents. When Janosek called city hall she was told libraries were open for relief from the heat, but community centres, arenas and pools were only available for those registered in programs. Janosek couldn’t understand how even the new Minoru Seniors Centre, with its large rooms and air conditioning wasn’t open — she was told by city hall they didn’t have enough staff to open it.
“How much staff do you need?” Janosek told the Richmond News. She said seniors just needed some chairs to sit down on for a few hours to cool down.
And Janosek said the fact the B.C. chief coroner reported a high number of deaths should make it a “special time.” “Isn’t this a situation (for) a little flexibility on the part of the people who decide how things are run in Richmond?” she said. But city spokesperson Clay Adams said there was nothing “official” to support VCH’s statement about heat risk exceeding the risk of COVID-19. “Despite some conversations we didn’t get much clarity (from VCH),” Adams said. And with just 24-to-48-hour notice on the coming heat wave, the public health restrictions on gatherings, and facilities still running with skeleton staff, it was a challenge to open up any cooling centres. The city set up six outdoor misting centres in parks, put up tents and covered picnic tables and offered libraries as cooling centres, which were well prescribed. The city added as much capacity as it could to community facilities, and no one was turned away, Adams added. There were 10 sudden deaths in Richmond between June 26 and July 1 while across the province, there were 719 deaths from June 25 and June 30, three times the normal amount. A Richmond landscaper is warning residents to keep an eye out for the potentially dangerous Asian giant hornet, after an unconfirmed sighting in Steveston. Don Pitcairn, who runs Green Team Landscaping, said one of his employees is convinced one of the hornets — the largest of its kind in the world and an invasive species — flew onto his shovel at a strata complex near Britannia Heritage Shipyards earlier this week. Pitcairn said he and his staff know their insects very well, having been stung numerous times even recently by all kinds of hornets.
Asian giant hornets are an invasive species and are about two inches long. because I’ve heard reports of them being spotted a long way from the (U.S.) border, where they were first spotted last fall,” Pitcairn told the Richmond News. “My worker said the Asian giant hornet grabbed the bee and headed south towards Shady Island.
And he said his employee, who was “freaked out” by the size of the hornet, watched as the two-inch long insect grabbed a honey bee from a flowering bush and took off.
“It was orange and black and about two inches long. It had huge jaws on it. I queried him on what he saw and he was adamant it was an Asian giant hornet.”

We’ve warned all the stratas we service in Steveston to be on the look-out.” The ISCBC said it’s looking into the report and will monitor the situation, but it will need confirmation of the sighting. The Asian giant hornets are found throughout South and East Asia and were likely brought to North America accidentally on container ships, according to ISCBC.

Fisherman opens truck — next door to restaurants food trucks on federal land, which they cannot do. They tried. But the (SHA) said nope.”
Alan Campbell
ACAMPBELL@RICHMOND-NEWS.COM
Keitsch said it bothered him for decades that “none of the restaurants around here represent the local fishery, in terms of buying the fish from us and serving it here.”
After more than 40 years of catching his own fish out of Steveston, Frank Keitsch was getting more than a little perturbed that none of it was being sold in the village’s restaurants. So, in the spirit of “if you want something done properly, you have to do it yourself,” Keitsch decided to open up his own highend seafood truck, selling his own fish — slap bang in the middle of the aforementioned eateries. And last Tuesday, the 55-year-old veteran lifted the hatch on Fisherman Frank’s in the Steveston Harbour Authority (SHA) parking lot, just a few yards from the likes of Pajo’s, Shady Island and the Blue Canoe restaurants. However, Keitsch told the Richmond News on Thursday that it was far from plain sailing, after Richmond City Council put the brakes on food trucks opening up in the village earlier this spring.
“I started this because I was pissed off and I want to see people eating fish harvested by local fishermen.” Steveston fisherman Frank Keitsch was fed up with some local restaurants not buying his catch.
Some food trucks operating in Steveston from out of town were temporarily shut down by the city earlier this year, after what was believed to be an outcry from some local restaurant owners.

If it’s not his own catch, it’s sourced from other local or B.C. fishers, he said. “It’s superior to what some people call fresh. It’s cleaned and into a blast freezer within half an hour of being harvested,” Keitsch explained. “You can take this fish out a few months later and you would have a hard time figuring out what has just been caught and what has been frozen.” As for juggling his fishing operation and the new food truck, Keitsch has hired two professional chefs to help him get the new venture off the ground.
“We opened up on Tuesday, but it has been in the works since September,” said Keitsch, who owns and operates a 39-foot fishing boat called “The Comeback,” which catches salmon, spot prawns and tuna.
Keitsch, however, isn’t overly concerned about what they think, despite the proximity of his shiny, new truck.
“The parking lot we’re in is federal land, operated by fisherman and we have the right to (open up here).
“I’ve not seen any of them coming down and buying spot prawns from us at the dock. It was disgusting.”
“People are raving about us already and, as far as I can tell, no one has ever done high-end fish dishes out of a food truck around here. Nothing will be deep fried on this truck.”
“It has been a long process, believe me, with all the BS with the city trying to stop
Keitsch said many of the items on his menu are his own catch, “flash frozen” at sea
For now, Fisherman Frank’s will be open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“I’m not worried about them. Maybe they should step up their game,” he added.

Millions eye City aims restart for Sept. 7 Canada for immigration The City of Richmond is aiming to have its programs more or less back to normal by Sept. 7 and is closing its emergency operation centre (EOC).
The city is adjusting operations over the summer to line up with changing rules on gatherings, explained Serena Lusk, general manager of com-

munity services, including bringing back drop-in programs at city facilities and opening up city hall.
Masks will remain mandatory at city facilities, most likely until Sept. 7 as well, Lusk said.
Throughout the pandemic, participants have had to pre-register for programs at community centres, pools and arenas.

Sixty-nine million adults in China and Hong Kong are considering immigrating to Canada, according to a recent survey.
洪德中英文雙語小學
And many of them will settle in Richmond, added Ken Tung, the former chair of SUCCESS, an immigrant services organization. Canada, and particularly Richmond, remains an attractive destination for many Chinese immigrants, since the city already has a dense immigrant population and values inclusion, Tung explained. The recent pilot study conducted by Hamazaki Wong Marketing Group and Vividata, a data research firm, found the top three reasons people were looking to come to Canada were health care services, career and educational opportunities and political stability. “The chances of 69 million people actually coming to Canada is relatively slim, but what the number tells us is that Canada has a very strong standing in the world, especially in China and Hong Kong,” said Sonny Wong, president and creative director of Hamazaki Wong. Tung isn’t surprised by the spike in interest in Canada, noting many of the young Hong Kong graduates he’s worked with say Hong Kong isn’t the same city they once lived in and deeply loved. For some, the closure of Hong Kong’s pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily, may have been the last straw.
The freedom of the press is collapsing (in Hong Kong)...

“These youngsters have friends who went to the protest peacefully, but they got arrested...The freedom of the press is collapsing, and let me tell you, that’s not the end yet. Who is here to protect Hong Kong people? Why will I not leave the country if I get a chance,” said Tung, noting Richmond could see a wave of immigration from Hong Kong similar to that experienced in the 1990s. And it’s not just people leaving Hong Kong, money is also flowing outward with Reuters reporting Hong Kong saw its highest capital outflow to Canada on record last year, surpassing $40 billion. CCP 100th anniversary celebrations alarm resident Nono Shen NSHEN@RICHMOND-NEWS.COM
A Richmondite was disturbed to see a couple of Chinese student associations asking their members to profess their love for the Chinese Communist Party in an online contest to mark the party’s 100th anniversary. Last month, just ahead of the July 1 anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CPP), Bill Chiu came across a post on WeChat from Chinese student associations at UBC and SFU, which had collaborated with the Chinese ConsulateGeneral in Vancouver to celebrate the CCP’s 100th birthday. In the post, the two student organizations encouraged others to participate in a contest by submitting original poetry, photos or artwork that would “evoke overseas Chinese’s devotion to the Party,” the post reads in translation. The post also noted that awards would be given out on July 1, with the top winner getting 500 RMB (around CAD $95). “The purpose of the event is to provide a chance for Chinese students in Greater Vancouver to showcase their talents, to
evoke overseas Chinese’s devotion to the Party, to showcase the excellent tradition and legacy of the Party and to promote the growth of Chinese students who are studying in Canada,” states part of the WeChat article translated into English. The official Facebook page of the UBC Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) claims the organization is a “non-political, non-profit, independent organization composed of mainly Chinese students and scholars studying and working at UBC.” But Chiu suspects this student group is “closely associated with the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver” based on this WeChat article, noting that Chinese social media has become an important vehicle for the CCP to connect with the Chinese diaspora. Chiu recognizes it’s common for politicians and political parties to use social media to interact with their voters and promote their election messages, however because China is a dictatorship, the impact is more concerning. “Things become different if an authoritarian regime is using their social media account to promote messages from the country’s only party,” said Chiu.
Richmondites send help to Lytton fire victims Four Richmond firefighters set out last week to help fight the wildfire in Lytton while one Richmondite helped collect money and supplies for those affected.

cape from their homes but left everything behind, including their lifetime savings. I couldn’t imagine the pain and sadness these people have been dealing with at that time,” said Wang. And, as a freelance writer with a loyal audience in the local Chinese community, Wang’s actions inspired others to follow in her footsteps by making online donations.
The Villlage of Lytton was largely burned in the wildfire and the entire town was under evacuation alert. Nearby First Nations communities were also under threat from the fire.
“The funds we raised are far from enough. But I hope to get more people to join us over the next few days. I have faith that we can get through this tough time together,” said Wang.
Meanwhile, Richmond resident Ally Wang spent her weekend volunteering at a fundraiser in Pitt Meadows, where workers set up stands to collect donations and supplies to support the Lytton community.
Raymond Liu, of Chinese Radio Vancouver, said they spent three days in Richmond gathering toilet paper, canned fruit and veggies, deodorant, bottles of water, non-perishable food items and feminine products and wipes.
Wang sent dozens of messages to her family members and friends to ask them to help in any way possible. “I was heartbroken when I heard from the news that lots of people managed to es-

A homeowner next to King George Park claims she didn’t know her property was designated for park expansion and now wants this label removed. Strangely, city park staff agree with her and are recommending that council change it. It’s a “strange position” for city parks staff to be recommending removing a park designation, said Serena Lusk, the city’s general manager of community services. However, these properties aren’t a high priority, because the city has enough greenspace in the area, and if more were added, it wouldn’t be at King George Park rather elsewhere in East Cambie, staff explained.
If the designation was removed, there’s a proposal to develop the five properties into townhouses and commercial.

Amy Ho, who owns one of the properties, is asking for the change because she said she can’t do anything with her property as is. Ho said she wasn’t told by the realtor when she bought the property that it had a park designation, but Coun. Harold Steves noted, “that’s not our problem, unfortunately.” Steves pointed out council has a “longstanding policy” of buying lots on the
perimeter of parks at market value.
And even though some properties earmarked for future parks were lower on the list of priorities, they weren’t removed from that list, he added. Moreover, this could be a slippery slope, and Steves questioned whether other properties with park designation would also be removed. Coun. Carol Day said removing the park designation on Ho’s property now would be giving up “the ace in the hole.” The park designation allows the city to negotiate more community amenities if a rezoning application for the properties comes to the city, she added. The five lots, located at the corner of Cambie and No. 5 roads, are assessed at $7 million and would add less than one and a half acres to the 49-acre King George Park. City staff say the East Cambie area has more greenspace than other areas of the city. However, that includes Richmond Nature Park, a natural area with just a few kilometres of walking trails and no playing fields. Coun. Michael Wolfe said, at Monday’s committee meeting, the 200-acre Richmond Nature Park can’t have a lot of people at once and there are “a lot of limitations” to the park, for example, no dogs are allowed there. The city aims to have about eight acres of park and open space for every 1,000 residents. The item was sent back to staff for more information with Day in opposition.

Garden plan irks residents A group of Steveston residents aren’t opposed to community gardens — they just don’t want a 40-bed one behind their fence.
The City of Richmond is proposing a community garden on the Railway Greenway just south of Steveston Highway, but some of the residents of Birchwood Estates are worried about an increase in rodents, foot traffic from strangers and the smell of compost and manure that would come from this endeavour. “We are not against community gardens in any way, shape or form — none of us are against (them) but we are just against it being over our back fence,” said Roidon Lamb, a resident of Birchwood Estates who brought the complaint to city hall last week. Lamb told the parks, recreation and cultural services
committee the greenspace is currently used by residents of Birchwood and other community members. If it were converted to a garden, it would only be used by 40 people six months of the year, she added. There are currently 500 Richmond residents on a waitlist for a community garden plot and 200 of those are in Steveston.
Coun. Linda McPhail said she supported re-examining this location, however, she pointed out community gardens are a “high priority” for council. The parks committee in the end asked city staff for more information about the proposed garden and others. — Maria Rantanen/ Richmond News Search Birchwood Estates for full story at Richmond-News.com

The City of Richmond is encouraging residents and businesses to become “pollinator and bee ambassadors” by planting flowers to help pollinators travel throughout the city. By planting pollen-rich plants on their properties, Richmondites can help expand the city’s nectar trail to help pollinators such as bees easily travel throughout the city and its farming areas. Pollinators need to touch down every 10 metres, according to the city. “Scientists tell us that pollinators are responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie in a statement. “Building trails of pollen-rich plants will help these pollinators thrive in Richmond’s Ecological Network. “A simple solution is to create a beefriendly area on your property by plant-

Richmond’s Gateway Theatre will be holding a series of outdoor concerts this summer to reunite with its audiences after COVID-19 wiped out a year of live shows. Songs of Summer, set to be held on an open patch of grass right in front of the theatre, will feature local performing artists on three separate days, July 10, Aug. 14 and Sept. 11. Tickets are already sold out, but
“It’s an opportunity to reconnect, to gather, unwind, and celebrate the joy of live performance,” said Barbara Tomasic, Gateway Theatre’s director of artistic programs. “We’ve been waiting for this chance to reunite with our community in person.” Event participants are encouraged to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.

Each group of concert-goers will have a marked-out “bubble” to call their own while enjoying an “evening rich in summer, sun and song,” according to the theatre.
The July concert will feature artist Amanda Sum performing a live rendition of her debut album, followed in August by a set of musical theatre classics by loyal Gateway collaborators Tiana Jung and Jason Sakaki. In September, the series will close with “powerhouses” Steffanie Davis and Krystle Dos Santos, performing an upbeat set of contemporary funk and soul.

A Richmond mother and daughter have won $10,000 for their favourite charity in a national “giving back” contest. Zoe Ahlstrom and her daughter Maya Harpool bagged one of 10 prizes for Richmond Family Place in Telus’ #FriendlyFutureDays contest, which called on Canadians from coast-to-coast to share how they’ve been “making the future friendlier and giving back during the pandemic.” And how did they do it? Well, by doing the laundry for Family Place for the last seven months or so, of course. Yes, that’s right, since the start of the year, Ahlstrom has been picking up the charity’s dirty laundry and taking it to Harpool, who washes it all, before her mom delivers it back to the organization’s Ash Street base. “This was all Maya’s idea,” Ahlstrom told the Richmond News. “I had no idea about the contest, it was all Maya.”

Ahlstrom told how, when she first came to Richmond 25 years ago, she had no family or friends to fall back on. And, about a year into living here, she gave birth to Maya. “We lived close to Family Place and I became familiar with their services when it got involved with special needs children, as a behaviour interventionist,” explained Ahlstrom. “I used (the services) on and off for 10 to 15 years and I bring donations to their thrift store and buy stuff. I’ve put new moms and new immigrants in touch with them.” Ahlstrom said the laundry piles have picked up since the COVID-19 restrictions started to ease, with more people using Family Place’s services. And she said the mom and daughter team will keep on doing the charity’s laundry as long as they’re needed and able to do so.

the former Richmond Girls Soccer Association, Fusion and TSS Rovers — is moving to the bigs after spending a year at Division II Simon Fraser, a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The midfielder was spotted by Montana coach Chris Citowicki, who was wowed after watching Elcombe’s video. “I look at everybody’s film, because you never know who’s in there,” Citowicki told the university’s website GoGriz.com. “I watched her video, and she was outstanding. She is very good at keeping the ball in tight spaces. It’s a unique thing that not a lot of American players are raised with. She just has it.” Elcombe will be far from alone down in the U.S. as she will have the company of two former Team BC colleagues, defender Molly Quarry (Bowen Island) and goalkeeper Camellia Xu (Port Moody). “That 100 percent helped convince me to come,” Elcombe told GoGriz.com. “I’ve played with them before, so it’s nice to already know some people. GENERAL EMPLOYMENT WATSON, Davina M. May 11, 1933 − June 26, 2021 Davina Mackenzie Watson, born on May 11, 1933 in Glasgow, Scotland, passed away peacefully at home in Richmond, BC, on June 26, 2021. Davina was predeceased by her parents, James Watson and Margaret Mackenzie; siblings, Mary, James, Margaret, Nettie, and Jessie; nephews, George, David, and Brian; and most recently her long−time friend and companion, Jean Wilson. She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Linda (Owen) Anderson; and her family, Melinda (Kelly) Grass, Guy (Connie) Anderson, Robin (Aaron) Andersen, Katie (Parker) Schmidt, and all their families. She was very proud that she had reached the status of a great−great−great aunt. Davina is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Scotland. Davina emigrated from Scotland in 1965, arriving in Edmonton in the cold of November. After a vacation to Vancouver one summer, she and Jean decided that this was the place to be and pulled up roots to live for several years in Vancouver and then in Richmond. She worked for many years as the secretary to the Aldermen at Vancouver City Hall before retiring. Davina was a kind, gentle soul who had a great love of music, singing, Scottish country dancing, travelling, and relaxing on cruises. A trip to Hawaii and a couple of cruises each year became the norm for Davina and Jean. She loved to spend time with her clan in Richmond and delighted with every family celebration. She had a strong Christian faith and was a member of Richmond Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing alto in the choir for years. Her smiling, happy face will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew her. A funeral will be at Richmond Presbyterian Church at a later date.

Writing an effective classified ad is easy when you use these time-tested principles. • Use a keyword. Start your ad with the item for sale, service offered or the job title. • Be descriptive. Give customers a reason to respond. Advertisers have found that the more information you provide, the better the response. • Limit abbreviations. Use only standard abbreviations to avoid confusion and misinterpretations. • Include price. Always include price of the item for sale. • How to respond. Always include a phone number (with area code) and/or street andd emaiil adddress.
