Welcome to AVENUE Q! It’s just like your street. People worry about how they’re going to pay their bills. They wonder if they’ll ever achieve their goals in life. Unrequited love and on-again-off-again romances create angst galore. There are questions behind closed doors about the neighbor’s sexual preferences and as to that strange woman we saw coming from the new guy’s place. Jobs come and jobs go. All the neighbors try to be PC about their racial, religious or ethnic differences. And that furry pervert across the street with the two big horns on his head keeps everyone up all night as he watches porn on the Internet. Alright, maybe it’s not exactly like your street. The inhabitants of Avenue Q are all real people whether they are covered in skin, fur, felt or foam. They hurt, they hunger, they dream, they succeed and they fail. But they keep plugging along – one day at a time. So instead of thinking you’ve come to see “that puppet musical that looks like SESAME STREET,” may I suggest you get to know each of the wonderful and very human inhabitants of Avenue Q. Try to see past their exteriors because, above everything else, these characters are loaded with heart. But feel free to laugh at them…I mean…come on… puppets are hilarious! Thank you and enjoy the show, ~ Brad Blake, Director
