TAKE TRAVEL ONLINE: 5 Ideas for a Virtual Family Adventure By Family Features
Volume 22, Issue 3
• Walk the Great Wall of China. Make your Great Wall goals a reality. Get a glimpse of this 300-mile wonder of the world with a cyber stroll before dreaming up your own future family trip. • Watch big wave surfing in Maui. Transport yourself to the beach as you watch whiteknuckle surfing at its most surreal. Whether you're a super fan or first-time spectator of the sport, it's a compelling beach-cam watch and a welcome escape from the everyday. • Travel 352 million miles to Mars. Feel a world away as you explore Mars from aboard NASA's Curiosity Rover. Learn as you roam between its different mission sites for a virtual, yet realistic, view of the Red Planet's remarkable landscape.
A dream vacation is the perfect antidote to stress and the monotony of daily life. When a getaway isn't in the cards, you can still escape and explore new places virtually. A virtual trip can be a great way to explore destinations you might consider for a future vacation, or it may be a chance to see remarkable sights around the world that you wouldn't get to experience otherwise. Virtual travel can also engage kids in learning when you pair the experience with lessons on culture, geography or even a homemade take on local culinary treats. Add authenticity to the experience with special touches that mimic the ambiance. If you're visiting the beach, kick up the heat and turn on a fan for some breeze. Light a coconut-scented candle and enjoy a bowl of ice cream while you take in the sights. Get your virtual adventures underway with these selections from the travel experts at Vrbo: • Look around the Louvre in Paris. Explore the Egyptian Antiquities, remains of the Louvre's Moat and Galerie d'Apollon by virtual museum tour as you head inside this iconic art lover's institution. • Sneak inside the San Diego Zoo. Get up close and personal with the resident apes, penguins, pandas, giraffes, elephants and tigers in real time via one of the many live cams positioned to spot wildlife from the comfort of your couch.
For families who miss traveling together, you can share the joys of your virtual journey through videoconferencing and adding some extra ambiance and a change of scenery by downloading a travel wallpaper for your meeting background. If the virtual destinations inspire you to visit in person someday, use resources like Vrbo's Trip Boards to create a list of places to stay as soon as you can get away, and keep the dream going by sending the link to family members and asking them to vote and comment on their favorites. PREPPING TREES FOR HURRICANE SEASON
By Kaleigh Dickson Abboud-Social Media Director for Stevens Tree Service Dunedin Hurricane season is here and it is not going away anytime soon. Stretching from the first of June all the way through the end of November, hurricane season has plenty of opportunities to cause destruction to homes and businesses. While we cannot control and limit all damage hurricanes will cause, we can certainly prepare ahead of time to limit the amount of destruction. Part of this preparation includes making sure the trees on your property are in good enough condition to withstand severe weather. This starts with making sure your trees are properly pruned, or trimmed. Pruning helps to remove weakened branches and help promote overall balance of the tree to ensure it can hold strong when hurricane force winds blow through. Trimming trees should be done by professionals in order to give your trees the best chance at withstanding strong winds as well as keeping your property intact. Proper care and maintenance should be done throughout the life of the tree, beginning when it's very young. Creating the most wind-resistant trees begins when the tree is in its earliest years.
The process of pruning in preparation for a storm consists of cutting damaged or diseased wood, dead wood and clearing out extra branches and removing branches that conflict with the balance of the tree. Along with getting your local ISA Certified Arborists to properly trim the trees on your property, you should also be on the lookout for any loose branches on your property prior to the storm. Certain tree species generally do very well during hurricanes and various storms because they are strong by nature. Live Oak and most palm species are a few of the trees most likely to be able to withstand strong winds. However, these species should still be regularly checked by an arborist to ensure their health. In addition to the strong trees, certain types of trees have shallow roots by nature or are grown in poorly drained soil. When this happens and a strong storm approaches, it is likely that the tree will become uprooted and could cause significant damage to people and property in its path. Have your trees thoroughly evaluated by an ISA Certified Arborist so they can counsel you on how to avoid this potentially devastating damage. Hurricane season is filled with many uncertainties. Prepare now for storm season and control what you can control to limit destruction on your property.
THE BENEFITS OF ACCENT LIGHTING by Decorating Den Interiors, Sally Giar
Fixing up your room with new furniture, decor and other accessories will put you on the right track to a successful makeover, but accent lighting can bring the theme together and make the space feel complete. Whether you’re interested in wall sconces, floodlights, recessed lights or tracking lighting, there are dozens of options to choose from that can cater to the look you’re going for. Best of all, as simple as accent lighting may be, it can make a large impact on the overall feel of the room. 1. IT MAKES A STUNNING FOCAL POINT Turn your guests’ heads as they enter the room with the perfect accent lighting. Certainly, the point of this fixture is to focus light on another area or object, but it can be an attraction zone on its own 2. IT CAN ACCENTUATE YOUR WALL DECOR Or, if you want the room to revolve around a certain piece of wall decor, accent lighting can make this happen. Relying on overhead lighting or floor lamps to bring attention to decorations doesn’t work well because it isn’t focused in on them. With accent lighting, the fixture can hug your wall decor effortlessly. 3. IT CAN IMPROVE THE ATMOSPHERE IN YOUR ROOM If you’re looking for a subtle way to set the right tone in the room, accent lighting can do the job for you. This especially holds true if you’re interested in dimmers – lights that can dim and brighten manually – as they can transform a room from dark and romantic to cozy and welcoming. 4. IT’S THE PERFECT YEAR-ROUND DECOR PIECE Many of your pieces of decor likely have a timestamp – they’re either out for one season or seemingly dull halfway through the year. Accent lighting, however, can make the perfect decoration year-round. Talk with a professional about what style of fixture would look best in your room, regardless of the time of year. 5. THERE ARE SO MANY STYLES As stated earlier, there are ample styles of accent lighting fixtures to choose from. This allows you to be versatile and make the best

decisions based on the atmosphere you’re trying to evoke. Moreover, consider getting in contact with a design consultant from Decorating Den Interiors. He or she can come over to your home and provide a free consultation to properly assess the space and offer design suggestions. This educated assistance can help you make the best decision toward sprucing up your space.

SAFE ENTERTAINING TIPS IN A COVID-19 WORLD By Family Features
by John Miller
This article is intended for those who are relative newcomers to Presidents Landing. There is a lot of energy and activity in the Presidents Landing neighborhood but sometimes you must look for it. The fine homes and welltended lawns and greenery can throw you off from knowing that there is a quiet but vibrant assemblage of neighbors to get to know and enjoy their outdoor good cheer. These folks are everywhere but you just have to get out of the house and walk around to meet them and say hi. Each will be well met and friendly in saying hi back and briefly chatting with you or simply exchanging a wave and a nice greeting. Once you get up and take a walk outside, you will meet several set of folks with interesting intentions. You will meet the folks who unfailingly walk their dogs. They consistently keep their dogs on a leash and they dependably carry those green doggie bags. All the dogs are friendly. Most folks in Presidents Landing are considerate toward their neighbors about keeping their dog on a leash and cleaning up after their dogs; most do but a small few do not. You will also meet lots of energetic walkers. Most will be able to stop and share a greeting but even if they cannot stop, you will be pleased at how appreciative each is to receive your greeting. There are a few bicyclers, they will wave back and then there are even fewer but wonderfully met folks who sit in their driveways to enjoy the sun without the filtering of the lanai screening. These folks read and in some cases I think they are there just to be able to wave and extend to you their wishes for a great day. If you have the time, and you still feel like walking, taking an adventure down to the the lake front is always worth the effort. Often you will find a Presidents Landing couple sitting on the waterfront bench by the boat launching slip watching the lake Tarpon activities. You may also see some folks enjoying fauna and flora of our park, seeing six or seven deer is not unusual. The neighborhood of Presidents Landing is wonderful, but you might not know it is there. If you can, you might want to take a walk one day, just to see what you can see. I think you will be as amazed as I was.
Depending on where you live, restrictions on social gatherings may become less strict in the coming weeks and months. However, many experts caution that care should still be exercised when groups of people gather. After an extended period without social contact, it's only natural to crave some interaction, and there's evidence that doing so can be advantageous for your mental health. However, taking precautions to protect your physical health, along with your guests', can make for a more enjoyable event. Keep it contained. Limit your gatherings to a few close friends or family members so if someone does get sick, contact tracing is a simple task. Keep in mind the number of same-household families you invite is more important than the number of people in that family. For example, one family of six that has already been living in close quarters poses a lower risk than three couples living in separate houses. Also be mindful of your guests' approach to prevention; if they've been less cautious than your family or vice versa, there's room for conflict and anxiety. Celebrate outdoors. Indoor event spaces naturally have less circulation, meaning potential airborne particles hang around longer. Planning your gathering outdoors helps ensure more free-moving fresh air and more space for guests to spread out and practice social distancing. Encourage guests to bring their own. It may go against all your good hosting inclinations but hosting a bring-your-own party eliminates shared food and the risk of cross-contamination. You can provide disposable table service (plates, silverware and napkins) and single-serve beverages, but skip the cooler everyone reaches into. Provide ample, well-spaced seating. Encourage guests to keep some distance from one another by creating comfy seating arrangements. You can take it a step farther by asking guests to bring their own chairs and directing each family to set up its space a reasonable distance from the next. Make cleanliness a priority. Create stations with hand sanitizer or wipes. You can also create a makeshift sink to minimize trips to the restroom indoors. Provide a spray bottle or bucket, soap and paper towels near the hose for quick clean-ups. Find more advice for navigating pandemic life at eLivingtoday. com. HOW TO CLEAN UP YOUR SUMMER GRILLING GAME by Family Features
There's something about summertime that ushers in an easygoing spirit. The long, hot summer months are often celebrated with backyard barbecues, beach days and spending time with friends and family. It's a time to fire up the grill, slow down and roll with the punches.
Fall 2020
BURGER WITH GRILLED PINEAPPLE AND HONEY GARLIC BARBECUE SAUCE Total time: 30 minutes • Servings: 2 • 2 rings freshly cored pineapple • 2 Lightlife Plant-Based Burger patties, thawed • salt, to taste
So, when you're thinking about what to feed your family off the grill, it should be a breeze, and you shouldn't have to choose between good and good for you. Next time you turn on your grill, consider these tips for creating healthier, flavorful meals you can feel confident serving.
• freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Keep it simple. Skip the complicated recipes that call for a wide variety of ingredients, a multitude of steps and long cook times. Instead, seek out products and dishes that are made with ingredients you recognize and have just a handful of instructions. This will ensure less time in the kitchen and more time with loved ones.
• 1/4 cup crispy fried onions
Focus on seasonal, clean ingredients. Get inspired by your local farmer's market. One of the best parts about summer is the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables that can add flavor and nutrients to your plate. Plant-based meat, like the burgers, ground and sausages from Lightlife, are also a healthier swap for traditional animal meat products. The pea protein-based product line features only simple ingredients, like pea protein, beet powder and red bell pepper, and are non-GMO, gluten-free and soy-free, perfect for use in recipes like this Burger with Grilled Pineapple and Honey Garlic Barbecue Sauce. "I know how hard it can be to create fast and flavorful meals that the entire family will love," said Dan Curtin, president of Greenleaf Foods. "That's why we're focused on making delicious food with the cleanest ingredients possible. The fact that they're all plant-based is just a bonus." Don't forget the sides. Food should be a source of confidence, with everything enjoyed in moderation. To balance your spread of burgers and hot dogs, consider serving fresh asparagus or sweet corn in place of other salty, processed options. Fruits like peaches and pineapple work well on the grill, too, but remember to group produce by similar cooking times. Aim for a quick and fun cleanup. Perhaps one of the most overlooked secrets to a stress-free meal is to cut down on cleanup. A backyard barbecue can be one of the easiest messes to maintain as most of the prep is done outside on the grill. Try setting up a buffet line on your deck or patio where your family can build their burgers with customized toppings, like cheese, veggies and sauces. Then add a little bit of fun by putting on your favorite music playlist to help make a simple, everyday meal feel even more special. Visit lightlife.com to discover more plant-based recipes and solutions.

WHEN TREATING A HEART ATTACK OR STROKE, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. EVEN DURING THESE TIMES. Don’t hesitate when it comes to getting emergency treatment.
Even during a pandemic, you still need to be treated immediately if you have an emergency. Debating whether or not to risk going to an emergency room during a heart attack, stroke or other health emergency—waiting even a few extra minutes—could be harmful. That’s why in all BayCare hospital emergency rooms, patients who have symptoms of COVID-19 are isolated from other patients. This helps keep emergency room patients and our team members safe. So if it’s an emergency, don’t wait. For more information: BayCareEmergencyCare.org
