Chamber Publishes New Resource Directory The Tooele County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the publication of the 2010 Tooele County Resource Directory. The original directory was published in 1992 as a service to the community to enable them to find local businesses and community phone numbers. The Directory was previously called the “Business and Visitors Guide”. The name was changed this year to give the magazine a new look and to remind residents and visitors that the publication should be used as a resource to find local information. The Chamber hopes that residents will use the Directory year round. This year’s cover highlights the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express and features Commissioner Jerry Hurst and Pony Express Association Utah State Division President Pat Hearty; dressed in authentic Pony Express attire. The photo shoot took place at the Simpson Springs Station located on the Pony Express Trail approximately 24 miles from SR-36 near Faust. The photo was taken by Troy Boman, former local Tooele resident. The Directory includes information about living in Tooele County and includes local city and community information including names of leaders, meeting times and

important phone numbers. It also includes a section on Community Services and contact information as well as a special section on Healthcare and Education. A short history of Tooele County along with museums and other places to visit, parks

and golf course info, scenic back ways and places to engage in recreation, are included to inform visitors and residents of the many activities offered by our County. SEE DIRECTORY PAGE 9 

Chamber Purchases Downtown Building

The soon to be new home of The Tooele County Chamber of Commerce

The Tooele County Chamber of Commerce has recently purchased the old Tooele Clinic building located at 54 South Main Street, Tooele. The purchase was made with funds that were received from a sale of property that was originally donated over 40 years ago by LaVar Tate, one of the original Chamber founders. The building is located next to property currently owned by the Tate family. Plans for the building include Chamber offices, meeting rooms, information and visitor reception area and additional office spaces available for rent.

Repairs to the building will begin when the weather improves in the spring. Saving the old building from demolition was important to the Chamber board and director. It is important to keep the Chamber offices easily accessible to visitors and residents and therefore, downtown Tooele City seemed to be the perfect spot to locate the new offices. The Chamber will be accepting donations and/or volunteer help to “clean up” the property and make it a show piece for Tooele City.
