Tooele County’s Premier Golfing Event
T
he Tooele County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament Committee is making preparations for their largest fundraising event of the year…..the 2011 Chamber Golf Tournament. The first class event will be held on Friday, June 17th at Tooele’s premier 18 hole golf course, Oquirrh Hills. Energy Solutions is the Platinum Sponsor for this years exciting event. Gold sponsors include Tooele City, Tooele County, Mountain West Medical Center and Mountain America Credit Union. Golf is the game of networking. More deals are closed through the relationships cultivated while playing golf than with any other endeavor. The marketing opportunity presented at a golf tournament is a valuable tool that can be used to elevate your business to a new level.
The Chamber tournament offers a great day of golfing along with breakfast (co-sponsored by Mountain West Medical Center and Dennys of Tooele) and lunch sponsored by Rio Tinto. *One additional lunch sponsorship is still available. You will be greeted as you arrive by a concierge who will carry your bags to an assigned
cart before briefing you on the activities of the day. A special event ball cap and a sleeve of golf balls will be given to each golfer along with other special goody bag prizes and treats. Several prizes donated by local businesses will also be distributed through a drawing. Wal-Mart Logistics will be this years sponsor for the putting contest where golfers will be offered the chance to win a big screen television! For the added enjoyment of our golfers, teams will be limited this year to thirty-six. Team slots are filling up fast so give us a call today (435-882-0690) to reserve your spot! Sponsorships begin at $50 and are still available as well as the opportunity to promote your company by donating prizes. Information about the tournament is available at the Chamber office (86 South Main, Tooele) or on their website at www.tooelechamber.com
Thousands of Children Attend Annual Tooele County Chamber Easter Egg Hunt
T
housands of children in Tooele County, ages 3-11 participated in the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce/Mountain West Medical Center Annual Easter Egg Hunt. This annual event has been co-sponsored by Mountain West Medical Center and the Chamber of Commerce for many years. This is a fun way to show the community our combined commitment to Tooele County and our residents. Local businesses donated bicycles, gifts, candy and other prizes that were given away at the egg hunt. This event is totally funded by our generous local businesses! The event was held on Saturday April 23rd at the Deseret Peak Complex located on Hwy 112 between Tooele and Grantsville. Over 15,000 plastic eggs and candy bags were filled and ready for the children. Over 70 student volunteers from Tooele High, Tooele Jr. High, Stansbury High, Clarke Johnson Jr High and Tooele Boys and Girls Club Teen Center were all participants in this year’s Egg-Stuff-a-Ganza! The students were involved in organizations including Student
Children rush to gather eggs and prizes! Photo courtesy of Scott Watkins, Tooele City Fire Dept.
Government, Key Club, National Honor Society, Service Club, and Cheer Squad. The event was organized by Jamie Carter, Tooele City Library Director with help from one very awesome library volunteer named Dannie Libby from Stansbury. These students spent over 120 total hours stuffing eggs with prizes and candy! Kristen Linares, Tooele County School District Special Education Department staff member, also helped stuff eggs with the help of her students at Stansbury High, Grantsville High and Tooele High School. The event would not have been possible without the many
volunteers who helped organize and participate in the hunt. A heartfelt thanks to the Tooele City Fire Department for the fire engine siren which started the event, the staff of the Deseret Peak Complex for preparation of the complex and the sound system, the Tooele County Royalty and their advisor Cheryl Adams for handing out prizes, Tooele High School FBLA and Honor Society and their advisor Shauna Peterson, Tooele City Library and their egg stuffing partners, Tooele County Sheriff ’s Dept for traffic control, Rocky Mtn. Masonic Lodge for crowd control, Chamber Board members and
Ambassadors! The Easter Egg Hunt is a perfect example of how volunteers, businesses, and government leaders “Come Together” to serve the community residents. In addition to Mountain West Medical Center, this year’s sponsors included Wal-Mart Logistics (who donated the awesome bicycles), Mountain America Credit Union, Maceys, Wireless Beehive, William Lintner Tax Services (has sponsored the Egg Hunt for many years), URS, Roni’s Signs, Tooele County Children’s Justice Center, Clean Harbors Grassy Mountain, Most Don’t.org, Valley Mental Health, Bob’s Garage, JackRabbit Press, Tooele Boys and Girls Club, Tate Mortuary, Denny’s, Jumpin’ Joeys, Jumpin’ Jack Splash, HeritageWest Credit Union, ATI Rowley, Little Caesars, Tooele Valley Spine Center, Utah Industrial Depot, RD Yates & Sons, Rudy Family Dollar, Costco, Tooele Valley Imaging, Liahona Books, Grantsville City, Harmony Home Health, Countryside Animal Clinic, DDI Vantage, Group 1 Real Estate, Judgment Recovery Bureau and Café Rio.
