Quality Service and Customer Relationships HENRY HEATING & COOLING

BY SARAH SMITH

Henry Heating & Cooling has been in business since 1960. The primary focus for many years was Commercial & Industrial Service and Design Build Installation. Early client relationships from many years ago are still Henry’s client relationships today! The customer first focus has never changed and never will.

Henry Heating, Cooling & Plumbing is a full-service, installation, maintenance, design-build, engineering, controls, and indoor air quality (IAQ) contracting firm. The company offers a service team to handle residential, commercial, and industrial maintenance, demand service, controls, and IAQ on the HVAC and plumbing side. The installation team handles residential, commercial, and industrial replacement, design-build, plan and spec, engineering, controls, and IAQ on the HVAC and plumbing side. A sales team controls all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial needs while an internal staff supports all field, sales, and production teams. The management staff allows individuals to grow in their respective roles, continue their education, and advance within the organization. “We are a ‘Family First’ organization and every team member’s family is an extension of our own,” said Jeff Ford, General Manager.

One of Henry’s primary focuses has been on indoor air quality. Products that have been a priority for customers are those that combat dirt, allergens, and germs. The “Perfect Air Purifier” residential indoor air quality product can be added to most residential systems if there is room between the return air duct and the furnace. In the commercial and industrial world, Henry has been installing plasma ion generators and I-Wave in-line duct air cleaners.

Henry Heating, Cooling & Plumbing knows that clean, comfortable, and efficient homes and businesses create the backbone of the community. By providing the best quality service and support, Henry helps build the businesses that keep communities running and ensure homes are safe and comfortable.

Jeff’s father was his mentor growing up. He received a master’s degree in business and finance and was the vice president of a national bank. He then retired early and followed his dream of becoming an independent business owner in the restaurant industry. Jeff and his siblings understood what it was going to take to make it in the business world after watching him change careers and fight for what he wanted.

“I was fortunate to have a second business mentor when I was growing up,” Jeff continued. “He owned an HVAC contracting firm in Columbus, Ohio, and his son and I were very good friends. We would spend time at his dad’s shop and over the years I got a decent understanding of what the HVAC industry was all about.”

After college, Jeff started work at Lennox Industries, Inc. and completed a nine-month training program. With a choice on where in the country he wanted to begin his career with Lennox, he chose Michigan because it was a growing market, only four hours from home, and a good working environment.

“I spent seven years with Lennox Industries, Inc. and won their prestigious “L” Award as a 24-year-old, the youngest ever in the corporation’s history,” explained Jeff. “I spent the next four years at The Trane Company and developed a program called “Legion of Merit” which was adopted by Trane National. My desire was to write training manuals, so I made the decision to move from the manufacturing world to the contracting world. The last 20 years have been on the contracting side of the business and it is truly my passion!”

“What is unique about our business is simple; it is our people!” Jeff exclaimed. “Every team member at Henry Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has a voice. It is truly a family business. And when I say family, I mean it. There are second and third generations of the same family working here, as well as uncles, nephews, brothers, and cousins. Our focus is on our customers! Ask our customers if they have developed a personal relationship with their technician, their installation team, or their controls team and I bet the response is majority yes. Whether it is residential, commercial, or industrial, the Henry team member/client relationship is strong! We want to grow our group of clients more every day!”

Jeff lives in Glenmoor with his wife, Dana, who is a managing nurse at Crossroads Hospice. Jeff’s son, Mason, works for Henry Heating, Cooling & Plumbing as a service technician.

“We have used Henry’s Heating and Cooling for our Residential HVAC needs and have been very pleased with everyone. The crew who installed our new unit worked very efficiently and took great care to ensure our property was in as good as shape if not better than when they arrived. Henry’s also assumed the preventative maintenance and service on our other equipment they did not provide and this transition has been seamless.”

“We have used Henry Heating on a couple of occasions and have been very satisfied. We had them work on a plumbing job and Rick provided us with alternatives that helped us come in under budget and it was a better overall solution. We also bought their maintenance plan for our furnace/ac and the team was very professional, trustworthy, and responsive. We highly recommend Henry Heating and will continue to use them in the future.”
