This studio focused on understanding the attributes of CULTURAL EXCHANGE and the PLACES that allow such exchanges possible. The studio was contextualized in Gujarat, and Tamilnadu in India. The participating students belonged majorly to these two regions. The students imagined and designed a Gujarati neighborhood in Madurai and a Tamil neighborhood in Rajkot.
CARE students teamed up with IPSA students for a joint module for 'site planning'. Half the pairs of students (one CARE, one IPSA) worked on the Rajkot project, half on the Madurai project. The CARE students developed housing ideas and the IPSA students would develop Institution ideas (an institution of Gujarati/Tamil culture; where there would be language learning, social interaction, library, Restaurant, etc.).
This portfolio is a compilation of students' work on (1) Understanding Society and Institutions, (2) Joint Studio Module (Site Plan developed by the students of both schools and sites, and (3) Institutions designed for cultural exchange.
