Dear Parents:

Welcome to Landmark Preschool’s Summer Camp! We are looking forward to an exciting and fun-filled summer! Attached you will find a copy of our Summer Camp Parent Handbook. Please read it carefully as it answers FAQs about our program.

A few things to note:

o For your child to attend summer camp, we require a current health assessment form (within the past 12 months). If your child has an allergy of any kind, please contact the office for the required paperwork. Your child will not be allowed to participate in our summer program if the appropriate paperwork is not completed.

o Please apply sunscreen before bringing your child each day. If you would like us to reapply sunscreen before going outside, you will need to complete the topical (non-prescription) medication form.

o Lunch and Snack are not provided. Please provide an appropriate lunch and snack for your child each day. Snacks and lunches should be clearly labeled with your child’s name and placed in your child’s lunch bag with an ice pack each day, or in a separate labeled bag.

o Due to the number of students with severe peanut allergies, we ask that parents do not send peanut or tree nut products in their child’s lunch or snack.

o Before Care starting at 8:30 AM and After Care until 3:00 PM are available.

2024 Summer Camp

Congratulations on your decision to be a part of the Landmark Preschool’s Summer Camp! For many years, Landmark has provided opportunities for children to enjoy their summer. Our property is designed to allow each child to have an appreciation of the outdoors. Y our child’s safety and well-being are our priority. If you have any questions, please call the Westport campus at (203) 226-6982.

Drop off is 9:00 - 9:15 AM and pick up is between 1:45 - 2:00 PM for all children. For drop off and pick up, please park in the Assump7on church parking lot, and use the sidewalk on Burr Road to reach our main entrance. Any child who remains on campus a=er 2:05 PM will be taken to a=er care, and a=er care rates will apply.

Summer Program Portal

We have launched our new Summer Program Portal which has been designed to provide you with easy access to essenTal informaTon and general resources such as the Summer Camp Parent Handbook, Topical (non-medica9on) forms, and Refund & Withdrawal Policy. An email has been sent to all summer program families with direcJons on how to access your portal.

Magnus Health

RA | LP has partnered with Magnus Health to fully encrypt and digiTze our health records system. You can access your online Magnus Health account through the Summer Program Portal. For your child(ren) to parJcipate in a RA | LP summer program, families must upload a current (within 12 months) State of CT health form and immunizaTon page prior to their first day of camp.

If your child has an allergy or medical condiTon that requires staff to administer prescripTon medicaTons (such as Benadryl/EpiPen), you will also need to upload their Emergency Health form into the Magnus Health portal. Please noJfy Janet Wilson at jwilson@landmarkpreschool.org if you need an Emergency Health form.

Medications

There is no licensed nurse onsite. Our staff is trained in CPR, First Aid, and administration of medication. If a student needs to have a prescription medication administered during the day, or in the event of a life- threatening emergency (e.g., for an allergy), both a parent and the student’s doctor must sign a release form and medication authorization form which are both available in our main office. All medications must have the child’s name on the pharmacy label, as well as the dosage requirements to administer it. All medications need to be labeled with your child's name and given to the camp counselor on the first day of camp. Please note that medical authorization forms for the school year do not carry over for Summer Camp unless the expiration date for the doctor’s orders extends through the summer. If in doubt, please check with our office staff. This is a State of CT requirement.

Emergency and Authorized Pick-Up People

• All regular school year Landmark student's Emergency Authorizations and Pick-ups located in your Patriot Portal will carry forward to Summer Camp unless the office is notified differently. Any new authorized pick-up people that you add to your portal must include a photo ID (i.e., driver’s license) emailed to Janet Wilson jwilson@landmarkpreschool.org.

• Non-Landmark students or newly enrolled students will receive a separate email which will include an Authorized Pick-Up form. Please fill out the form, sign, and email it along with photo IDs (i.e., drivers’ licenses) of your authorized pick-up people to Janet Wilson at jwilson@landmarkpreschool.org.

Extended Day

Extended hours are available by request and prior arrangement from 8:30 AM unJl 9:00 AM ($10/per day) and 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM ($15/per day.) All children must be picked up by 3:00 PM. A late fee of $15/quarter hour will be charged for any child not picked up by 3:05 PM. All late fees must be paid within 24 hours or summer camp privileges will be suspended.

**Payment for extended hours is online; please contact Janet Wilson at jwilson@landmarkpreschool.org the week BEFORE you need extended care for your child.

Clothing

Please be sure that your child comes to Summer Camp in appropriate clothing for activities. We recommend that your child come in a bathing suit under his/her clothes (2-piece for girls is suggested to facilitate bathroom use). Please provide an extra T-shirt to go over your child’s bathing suit. Apply sunscreen to your child BEFORE the start of the day. We would be happy to reapply sunscreen later in the day as needed; however, due to state law, staff cannot apply sunscreen without written permission.

Sneakers or water shoes should be worn to camp. Please provide an addiTonal pair of shoes to change into later. Clearly label all clothing and other items that are brought to Landmark with your child's full name. Please pack a towel each day, and two full extra sets of clothes, one of which will be lek at school. These items should be packed into a backpack or gym bag that the children will keep at school throughout the day.

Lunch

Children need to bring their own snacks and lunches to Summer Camp including beverages, napkins, utensils (if needed) in a lunch box or bag labeled with their name. Due to the number of children with severe peanut allergies, we ask that parents do not send peanut or nut products in their child’s snack or lunch. We appreciate your help in keeping all our children safe.

Illness Guidelines

A primary step in prevenTng the spread of infecTon is keeping your children at home when they are ill. Parents are the best observers of their children and know when they are out of sorts. It is in this early stage that they are most infecTous, and it is important that children be kept out of school at this Tme. The school may require a doctor’s note for the child to return to camp.

• Any prolonged or unidentifiable rash needs to be seen by a physician and a doctor’s note must be provided stating when the child can return to camp.

• Any eye drainage or red, itchy eye – the child should be examined by a physician. If medication is required, the child must be on it for 24 hours before returning to Landmark. Any child with colored mucus drainage should be out of summer camp until the symptoms are gone, or a physician examines the child.

• Antibiotics – children should be on antibiotics 24-48 hours prior to returning to Landmark. If symptoms persist, a physician should re-examine the child, as the infection may be resistant to medication.

• Lice - a child will be sent home to be treated and will be checked upon return by our medical personnel. Every effort must be made to remove all nits. A child will be allowed back in summer camp, but if the child is found to have live lice, they will be excluded until all nits are removed or a physician provides a note.

• Vomiting/fever/diarrhea - child must be symptom free for a full 24 hours without the use of any fever reducing medications before returning to camp.

Please noTfy the office or teaching staff if your child has a contagious illness so we can noTfy parents.

Lost and Found

We accumulate a large quanTty of lost and found items. Please help us by labeling any item that your child wears or brings to Summer Camp with their full name. Landmark Preschool cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items. At the end of the Summer Camp, we donate all unclaimed items to Goodwill.

Rain Days

Landmark’s Summer Camp has plenty of indoor facilities in the event of rain.

Summer Sessions Policies

Full refunds for Summer Camp fees will be granted only due to a child’s illness or injury which must be at least three consecutive days and verified by a doctor.

All refund requests must be in writing and sent to the main office. Full refund requests will not be accepted after July 31, 2024. Refunds will be prorated for the portion of summer camp days your child attends.

Emergency Notifications

In the case of inclement weather or other emergency you will be notified by text message through our Veracross system, with a follow-up email from the camp director.

Withdrawals for reasons other than illness or injury as outlined above:

Prior to May 1, registration fee and 25% of total program fees will be forfeited. May 1 to May 17, registration fee and 50% of total program fees will be forfeited. May 18 to June 2, registration fee and 75% of total program fees will be forfeited. No refunds for withdrawals will be offered after June 2, 2024.

• State regulations prevent us from allowing children to bring a guest for the day.

• Ridgefield Academy does not provide health or accident insurance. The parent/guardian assumes total liability for all charges incurred for medical treatment or property damage.

• If behavior or disciplinary problems occur, we reserve the right to terminate placement.

• Full online payment is required prior to your child’s first day of summer camp.
