Bubble Guppies
Splish splash, we’re having a blast at the Bubble Guppies instructional swim program! It’s time for fun and learning from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, October 20 at Eyster Pool. Bubble Guppies is a parent and child swim program that offers 20 minutes of water safety and skills training by a certified water safety instructor, followed by 40 minutes of water play. The program is open to ages 6 months-5 years, and parents must accompany children in the water. No advance registration is required. Participation costs $5 per family. The 2.5 mile GLO Fun Run is coming Friday, October 12 to Outdoor Adventure and Travel Center. Turkey trot on down to the Gobble Wobble and catch a meal on the run! It’s all happening at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, November 17 at Riley’s Conference Center. Gobble a full Thanksgiving meal over the course of this 2-mile fun run, including turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, dinner rolls, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. Stop at each station along the route to enjoy your next course. Participation is open to all. Advance registration costs $12, and on-site registration costs $15. All paid participants receive a finisher medal. Children 4-under enter free, but will not receive food or a medal. Are you ready for a little friendly competition? It’s time to hit the hardwood for the Holiday Hoops Basketball Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 15 at Whitside Fitness Center. This single-elimination tournament is open to company-level teams of active-duty Soldiers only and qualifies teams for Commander’s Cup points. We’re revamping Custer Hill Bowling Center
Custer Hill Bowling Center is getting a makeover! When renovations are complete, we’ll have a new family fun center that will have an outdoor stadium theme. Look forward to playing glow-in-the-dark mini golf with the family or practice up on your swing in batting cages. Want to hit the fairway or the turf, but it’s to cold outside? Screen golf simulators and a multi-sport simulator will allow you to play year round. A giant video screen will be streaming sporting events. There will also be a children play area and electronic bingo. The center will also feature a full-service lounge with karaoke, a pool table and darts. During the remodel, 15 lanes of bowling will remain open along with the full-service snack bar. Come in, check out the progress and get a bite to eat! Events in the Spotlight: Family Readiness & Resilience University
Basic: October 3 & 4 Intermediate: November 7 & 8 Advanced: December 5, 6 & 7 9am-3pm Location: Army Community Service A three part series that begins with the basics of running an effective Family Readiness Group (FRG) plus so much more. Upon completion of the basic course attendees will receive FRG training certificates for: Foundations, Funds Custodian, Key Contact, and FRG Leader. The intermediate level includes FRG Care Team training plus team building, social media and other related topics. The advanced level covers event planning and fourteen skills of resilience training and upon completion of all three levels attendees receive a Family Readiness & Resilience University certificate in addition to the FRG training certificates. Advance registration encouraged and limited daytime child care is available with registration more than two weeks prior to class date.
