Our well-crafted batiks are produced in state-of-the-art facilities with the best Tjap designers and makers, color experts, and stamp prodigies. From conception to completion, each fabric has been meticulously designed for your creative and colorful imagination. Tjaps

Tjap, pronounced “chop,” is a batik fabric stamp created with thin strips of copper

that are manipulated by hand into florals, geometrics, or other motifs. These beautiful motifs are then welded onto a metal base. The motifs are typically denser and medium or large in design. Color combinations vary for more depth and movement. The art of batik making has been around for centuries. To create breathtaking batiks, a copper Tjap is dipped into melted wax and skillfully stamped onto a handdyed fabric. The wax sets into the fibers and conceals the color of the hand-dye. The fabric is then prepared for a second layer of color. Once the fabric has dried in the bright Indonesian sunshine, the fabric soaks in a hot bath to remove the wax from the fibers to reveal the striking and colorful design underneath. 10yd. Elementals, simply said, are beautiful blenders. These small scale, typically geometric Tjap prints complement larger Tjap prints and hand-dyes alike. Hand-Dyes

The art of hand-dying fabric is a time-honored craft that adds color and depth to fabric without applying any specific motif or repeating pattern. Applied by hand, the dye is completely entrenched into the fibers for a rich and dazzling saturation of color. The painterly nature of a hand-dye is achieved by scrunching or folding the fabric before applying the dye. Hand-dyes are both monochromatic or multichromatic. 8yd. nine sisters

Quilt Size: 74" x 74"

I have always loved the look of the traditional Seven Sisters quilt design, but I’ve never wanted to make a quilt with those Y seams. So I set out to find a similar look with a more effortless twist with the bonus of using 2 1⁄2" strips. Not only does our Nine Sisters pattern create the same feel of a cluster of stars in the center of the quilt, but it also uses the tube technique (and therefore Cozy’s Strip Tube Rulers) to make it both striking and simple! I immediately loved the design; others did too as it quickly became a Cozy top-seller! The pattern itself is great, but the gorgeous colors of the Meadow Rolie Polie give it just the right touch of romance, charm, and vibrancy!

COZY QUILT DESIGNS® I wanted to create a quilt design that was both simple to make and offered movement with shaded values of color. The aptly named Color Falls did just that, providing a striking bargello effect with mirroring blocks that give it movement and style. The piecing technique is easy! The hardest part of this quilt is collecting groups of fabrics to create the graduating color effect, especially in a 2 1⁄2" Rolie Polie. Then came Farmer’s Market! You can perfectly sort and arrange this beautiful Rolie Polie into the grouping needed to let this pattern live up to its name: like a waterfall of color.

The Desert Sky pattern is not only Fat Quarter friendly, but is designed to show off a large selection of fabrics in a scrappy layout that truly showcases the bold and intense colors that batiks offer. The Expressions palette was the perfect fit, with so many

rich brights, and an equally wonderful selection of coordinating pastels for the background. The Summer Solstice pattern was a great choice for showcasing the great selection of reds, yellows, and oranges in the first Expressions batik release from Riley Blake Designs. We started with the wonderful border fabric and selected a design that would allow that print to really shine. Then, selected coordinating reds, yellows and oranges to round out the star elements. Summer Solstice always evokes feelings of warmth, sunshine, long days, and summer. With Expressions, we were able to achieve a wonderfully balanced color palette to bring this quilt pattern to life in a way that achieves the same feelings.

WHIRLIGIG DESIGNS It was a true pleasure designing with these inspiring batiks from Riley Blake Designs. The textures in the prints enhance my Morocco and A Matter of Degrees designs beautifully. The wide variety in values and hues made it easy to shade my designs from light to dark, especially in A Matter of Degrees. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Expressions, Batiks by Riley Blake Designs.

QUILTER’S TREASURE CHEST I love using V-Block units in my designs. They are surprisingly versatile and the design options, when combined with other elements, are endless. When this design emerged on my EQ8 there was something that reminded me of Native Americans, evoking the name Colors of the Wind. When I saw the beautiful batiks by Riley Blake Designs I knew I wanted to use them with the Colors of the Wind II design. As I started to play with their new batik collection, my mouth dropped. There were so many beautiful combinations that looked amazing, making it really hard to decide which one I liked the best! Every now and then when I’m designing my goal is to make a simple design that is easy and fast to sew. I knew that these beautiful batiks would speak for themselves even in a simple design. I wanted the design to have a nice flow, and I believe I succeeded with this luscious color combination in Hilma Matilda.

THE WHIMSICAL WORKSHOP For our Skipping Stones pattern, I decided to showcase all the wonderful cool colors in Expressions, Batiks by Riley Blake Designs. This design came about as a representation of the ripples in the water when you skip a stone across the surface. The use of the various colors and the different values of these colors create the movement of the quilt. There so many rich and beautiful neutrals and brown fabrics in the Expressions line. All these rich colors reminded me of yummy chocolate desserts. This is the inspiration behind our Chocolate Covered Cherries pattern.

SLICE OF PI QUILTS The Exploding Heart quilt really pops with the rich batiks against the dark background fabric! Whether for a wedding, anniversary, friend, or just for yourself, this quilt is sure to make your heart burst with joy! In our family, quilts are always a part of the celebrations and memories that we make! The rainbow of batiks immediately reminded me of colorful confetti and cupcake sprinkles and The Party Pop quilt will make a perfect quilt for my boys to use when it’s their birthday!
