For lucky Korean fans, it’s always a pleasure to attend a huge concert with many different idol groups performing (as sometimes, fans have multiple favorite groups). The Hallyu BIG CONCERT will be touching down on June 9th in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, at the Suwon World Cup Stadium, and a list of performers has been released. The artists listed are: ★ SHINee ★ SNSD ★ IU ★ KARA ★ SUPER JUNIOR ★ MBLAQ ★ BEAST ★ MISS A ★ T-ARA ★ INFINITE ★ FT Island ★ SISTAR The list isn’t a confirmed one, but it would be fun to see all these artists! Notice how JYP and YG artists are conspicuously missing.
This May would be very special to Kpop Lovers in Columbia and around as U-KISS would be stepping onto Colombian soil for the first time. Their visit is for two major events: 1. Fanmeeting on May 11th 2. Exclusive performance on May 12th as part of Event 40 of the KPOP BY LG.

Hey, you’re back for more?! That’s great! There is so much to learn when it comes to another language and there are so many resources, so for this week, we will go into some of the resources I’ve found to be helpful through research over the past two years.
Let’s Begin So first of all, I’ve learned that not all Beginners are created equally, even in using the materials I’ve found helpful, So I’ve come up with 3 different levels: Beginner, Beginner Intermediate and Beginner Advance. Then there’s Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Advanced. Well, since I’m not in Intermediate AT ALL! Then we will start with the Beginner Levels and describing the books for those levels. Also, I’ve grouped the books into six categories that they teach either primarily or secondarily: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Grammar (part of writing), and Vocabulary (part of reading). Not all beginner books will focus on these needs, but on a specific part of them.
Level 0: Beginner For the ultimate beginner I suggest using only the first 4 chapters of this book but save the rest for later because it focuses mainly on grammar. The first 4 chapters focus on the Korean alphabet and it’s pronunciation. This is actually the best I’ve heard so far. Primary: Grammar Secondary: Reading, Speaking, Vocabulary
Read & Speak Korean for Beginners is the Ultimate book for newbies learning the Korean Language, it’s simple and easy with lots of worksheets and a CD for listening and speaking Korean. You can actually get through this book within a week, two for good measure but it’s not really necessary because all of the other resources simply repeat what’s in this book but in a more complicated way I think, anyway. Primary: Reading, Speaking, Listening Secondary: Vocabulary, Grammar, Writing
Level 1: Beginner Intermediate Build Your Korean Vocabulary is by the same people that created Read & Speak Korean For Beginners. It focuses primarily on building vocabulary, writing and reading in Korean. It has the same easy to learn features. Primary: Vocabulary, Writing, Reading Secondary: Grammar, Speaking, Listening

Level 1: Beginner Intermediate
Reading Korean for Beginners is also strictly for learning to read comprehensively in the Korean language. For this book you will also need to know how to read Hangeul. Primary: Reading, Vocabulary, Grammar Secondary: Writing
Listening Korean for Beginners is strictly for understanding the Korean language verbally. So it focuses mainly on that area. Also you will need to know how to read Hangeul (Korean) and need a partner for the activities. Primary: Listening Secondary: Speaking
Speaking Korean for Beginners focuses on writing in Hangeul. So it goes a little more in depth into grammar. Primary: Writing, Grammar Secondary: Reading, Vocabulary
Level 2: Beginner Advanced Writing Korean for Beginners focuses on writing in Hangeul. So it goes a little more in depth into the grammar. Primary: Writing, Grammar Secondary: Reading, Vocabulary
As I said before only the first 4 chapters of Mastering Conversational Korean for Beginners are at the Beginners level. However, the rest of this book goes into great detail on grammar and listening to correct pronunciation of the alphabet and so on. Primary: Grammar, Reading, Vocabulary Secondary: Listening, Writing, Speaking Basic Korean Grammar Workbook is also an advanced book and should really be used with Mastering Conversational Korean for Beginners. Don’t use one without the other, it will only give you a headache. Primary: Grammar, Writing

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (February 22, 2012) There’s a new convention in town, and it’s trying to be a big one – it’s the AM2, and it’s going to be at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Ana heim Hilton between June 15-17. You can work for the convention if you want to. You’ll get re imbursed for “crash space”, given meals, and have special access to areas most conventioneers can’t go – but be prepared to work an eight hour day minimum to qualify. More info and attendee registration can be found at http://www.am2con.org/staff-applications/. AM2′s Official Guests of Honor currently include Toshihiro Kawamoto, and you can get a Pass port fast pass for the event to bypass the huge lines (but what ifeverybody buys a pass?) The conventions activities include Exhibit Hall, AMV¹s, Arcade, Summer Festival, Behind the Voice Actors Studio, Masquerade, Dances, Fashion Shows, Table Top, Console Gaming, Workshops, Panels, Concerts and more that they haven’t stated. The upside is that the convention appears to be free to attend. The downside is that you’re likely not going to be able to get to see a lot of it unless you pony up for the special access – so right away, they’re giving with one hand and taking away with the other, and we haven’t even gotten to the convention floor yet. Never a good sign. We were sent this information in a press release, but we were struck by the fact that this was the first convention press release we’d ever seen that had a cautionary note about “forward looking statements”, which is normally something you only see on quarterly business reports. There was n’t a single thing in the press release that said “these people are doing this because they love the medium”. Instead, the convention is described as an “Anime, Manga and Music” convention. Say what? Is that a genre? This event has all the earmarks of a bunch of investors looking at spreadsheets trying to figure out how best to separate true blue fans from their money. We hope we’re wrong. If you want to find out more about the convention, they have a Facebook page, and a Twitter feed, and a web site at www.am2con.org.

Hello Korean is not a book for beginners. Although it has the alphabet it doesn’t really teach it. You already need to know how to read Hangeul to use this book. It does however teach grammar, writing and vocabulary skills. And you get the additional practice of reading Hangeul because you don’t have a choice really. And while it includes CD’s for listening and speaking it really doesn’t teach how to listen or speak per se. Primary: Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary Secondary: Reading, Listening, Speaking
