“The professors here care about what kind of person you are, not just your grades.”

Of course, your intellectual growth and academic achievements are important at Ripon. But we’re interested in much more. Our strong, tightly connected campus community numbers just more than 1,000 — every individual is important. We value, respect and guide you in developing: • Your

leadership potential • Your ethical awareness • Your ideas and opinions • Your unique strengths and talents You’ll soon be a college student, no matter what school you choose to attend. At Ripon, you’ll be much more.

More individual attention culminates in attention-getting letters of recommendation, written by professors who emphasize the accomplishments and abilities most valued by employers or graduate and professional schools.

“From the president to professors, everyone goes out of their way to cater to the students’ needs. It’s an open-door policy at all levels.” THE BEST 361 COLLEGES BY THE PRINCETON REVIEW

Ripon’s student-to-faculty ratio is an enviable 15:1 — and most students will tell you in reality it feels more like one-to-one. Our learning community is the perfect size to bring students and faculty together in close working relationships

French major Philicia King of Columbus, Ohio, says her professors connected her with special opportunities, such as a semester at the Sorbonne in Paris. She’s also convinced that “My faculty recommendations got me into graduate school.” She’s now studying educational policy at Ohio State • In classes that average 20 students, your professors are able to know you,

your strengths and your capabilities extraordinarily well. They’ll tailor your coursework to make sure you’re always challenged to perform at the top of your game. Yet they’re always ready to provide extra support when you need it. • The open doors of faculty offices open new doors for you. As

professor says, “My office door is always open and students are in there all the time. They don’t sit back idly – they actively seek more opportunities.” Faculty provide as much “more” as you want, collaborating with you on research projects, suggesting independent study topics and connecting you with internships and other active learning experiences.

Uniquely Ripon Unlimited advising. You can have more than one advisor, if you choose. Some students keep their first-year advisor even after they connect with another in a declared major, and double majors have one in each field. It can add up to an advising team. Plus, as one professor says, “At other schools, when faculty get together they talk about themselves — here we talk about our students.”

People ask,“How can you be involved in so many activites?” I say,

“How could I not?” Jessica Solverud, a native of Wausau, Wisconsin, figures her academic background and extracurricular involvement is excellent preparation for life after Ripon. She’s double majoring in English and communication. Jessica has taken full advantage of Ripon’s many co- and extra-curricular opportunities to create a powerful professional resume:

• Completing two internships, one with the Ripon College Office of Admission and the other as the Director of Christian Education at the First Congregational Church • Presenter and national qualifier for Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) • Student representative on the Accreditation Committee • Founding president of the Ripon College Equestrian Club • Manager of the Collaborative Learning Center • Member of the Ripon College women’s golf team • Participating in a peace studies Maymester to Jamaica and alternative spring break trips to Kentucky and Panama • Study abroad participant on the London/Florence Semester • Playing on intramural teams in inner tube water polo, volleyball and softball • A cast member in the theatre department’s musical production of “Wonderfultown”

“[Ripon] profits from being one of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, which have an unmatched array of foreign and domestic off-campus programs.” LOOKING BEYOND THE IVY LEAGUE BY LOREN POPE

Start with a major of your choice, then put it together with a wide variety of options to design a personalized program of study that matches your goals and interests to a “T.”

Erik Carlson thought the academic programs he investigated at larger universities were too limiting, saying, “In four years, you could only take three electives.” But at Ripon, he found the flexibility to explore many areas of interest. He’s majoring in history and math with a minor in Latin and spent a semester abroad in Swansea, Wales. Majors — more than meets the eye. About 40% of our students complete double or triple majors, while some create special self-designed majors. Many complement their major with one of our minors, such as Leadership Studies, to truly customize their programs. Off-campus study opportunities as wide as the world. From our exchange program with Fisk University to tropical field research in Costa Rica, all 32 of our off-campus programs are officially affiliated with Ripon. That means all your credits transfer and you can apply your financial aid to one full semester of study. Internships — the link between college and what comes next. Faculty actively network to connect you with rewarding internships, and other resources are available at our Career Development Office.

Uniquely Ripon Communicating Plus. Our legacy as the birthplace of the National Forensic League means we place a high value on communication. Our Communicating Plus program develops not only oral and written communication skills, but also fosters critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.

We have more than 70 different clubs and
