Local Rattler Recognized Nationally by 4-H Organization Dr. Romando James, Professor Emeritus of Family and Youth Development 2018 inductee to the National 4-H Hall of Fame Romando James Professor Emeritus, Clemson University Hometown: Bradenton, FL Nominated by: South Carolina 4-H Biography: Rev. Dr. Romando James, Professor Emeritus, Clemson University, received degrees in five different areas from four different schools: Ph.D. from Clark Atlanta University (Counseling and Psychology), M.A. from Clark Atlanta (Counseling), M.A. from Jersey City State University (Reading), Ed.S. from Rutgers University (Supervision and Administration), and a B.S. from Florida A&M University (Education and Drama). He then left the control system of education to pursue a movement known as Operation Common Sense with P.R.I.D.E. Ministries. Dr. James has held many positions in the field of education. He has served as a full professor in the Department of Family and Youth Development at Clemson University. He was selected as a presidential intern and later served as a Senior

Research Fellow for the Houston National Center for the study of the black experience in education under Dr. Herman Green (Deceased). Dr. James was an associate professor at Rutgers University as well as a public school teacher in Florida and New Jersey. About 4-H 4-H is delivered by Cooperative Extension—a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation that provides experiences where young people learn by doing. Kids complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and citizenship, in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids experience 4-H in every county and parish in the country—through inschool and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4-H camps.

About FAMU’s 12th President… The Man Lasting Legacy Larry Robinson, Ph.D., was named the 12th president of Florida A&M University (FAMU) on November 30, 2017. Previously, he served as the interim president of FAMU from September 2016 to November 2017 and from July 2012 to March 2014. He served as director of FAMU’s Environmental Sciences Institute from 1997 to 2003, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs from 2003 to 2005, chief executive officer in 2007 and vice president for Research in 2009. The Researcher Academic Roots President Robinson is actively engaged in research with students and faculty as the director and principal investigator of the Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems. The center was established in September 2016 with a $15.4 million award from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Educational Partnership Program. The Leader Servant Leader Every day, President Robinson wakes up knowing he has the best job in the world - to serve the students, faculty and staff of FAMU and to help make the University better. His dedication is seen day in and day out, never wavering as he puts the needs of his beloved “College of Love and Charity” above his own.
