Courses operate subject to sufficient numbers, and places are allocated on a first come first served basis. The College’s liability will extend only to the reimbursement of fees paid if the course is closed. If a student decides to withdraw from a course, the fees refundable are dependant on the length of the course and the number of weeks into the course the student withdraws, unless a medical certificate is formally produced.

Fees & How to Pay Any fees that are £315 and above can be paid in three instalments. Students will be required to pay the first instalment at enrolment.

Changes in course fees for 2009: Many of the fees for adult courses have previously been set at a considerably subsidised rate. In line with government priorities, colleges have had to review and raise some fees under their guidance. We are committed to providing the local community with value for money and services, and there are still reductions available on some courses. Please read on or contact Student Services for more details.

Money Matters:

Many people qualify for free or reduced fees on lots of Riverside College courses. Please see ‘Financial Assistance’ for more information. Fees stated are for the academic year 2009-2010. Any courses that run for 2 years will be subject to additional fees in 2010-2011.

Please note: Courses shown on the listing with a fee and the code FC are not eligible for fee concessions. In exceptional circumstances fees may be subject to change.

International Students: Applicants from overseas are required to access the full guidance and admissions process in line with equal opportunities. Please enquire with Student Services on 0151 257 2800 for international student fees.

If you are worried about the cost of learning, there are lots of financial packages available to provide help towards study costs and other expenses. If one of the following applies to you, you may be eligible for free or reduced fees. Please call Student Services on 0151 257 2800 to find out more, and when you come to enrol please bring the evidence indicated below with you. G Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) (Please bring your official notification from Job Centre Plus) G Working Tax Credit Subject to family income being under £15,276. (Please bring your official notification) G Any other means tested benefit (Please bring official notification, your benefit book or council tax bill showing your reduction as appropriate) G Dependents of people claiming any of the above (You must bring evidence as stated above relating to the main claimant) G You are aged 16-18 (You must be over 16 and under 19 on 31st August 2009)

Flexible Learning Distance Learning:

Learning at Work:

Distance Learning has proved to be one of the most popular ways to learn. Studying at home in your own time enables you to work at your own pace. This flexible learning process has made education and training available to many people for whom learning at college is not ideal.

At Riverside College working with partners is a large part of our business. The Skills and Enterprise team based at our Runcorn Campus offer numerous training programmes that can take place either at college, or on an employer’s premises. In addition, we can offer employers tailor-made training packages to help meet business needs.

As a Distance Learning student you will be provided with specifically designed training materials which allow for distance study and you will be assigned a dedicated tutor who will assist you through your course, answering queries, giving you feedback and marking your work.

We are particularly keen to work with employers, employees and those seeking employment to meet their training needs. Whether you require an accredited qualification, short course training packages or bespoke training, we can draw upon a wealth of knowledge and expertise from Training Advisers who have long and trusted working relationships with a number of high profile national and international companies.
