Riverside College Recently left School? Struggling to find employment or training? How can I afford to go to college? You could be eligible for EMA which could mean you get up to £30 a week depending on your household income.

How do I get to college? You could also be eligible for a subsidised buss pass which you can use at evenings and weekends as well as to get to college and back! * Plus get your first weeks bus pass FREE.

How do I apply? All courses start on the 19th January so call our Student Services Team now or fill in an application form at www.riversidecollege.ac.uk/january and we’ll invite you in to talk about the course, transport, EMA and any other support you may need to help you access college or during your course.

When do I get my voucher? When you start the course we’ll give you a £20 gift certificate so you can stock up on any stationary and books you need to get you started!

Preparing to work in the Beauty Industry: Pick up some essential skills in reception work, skin care, manicure, make-up and team work giving you the option to progress on to the next level of course or employment in a beauty salon.

Business Administration: NVQs are highly recognised by employers, and gaining this qualification will show you have practical office, IT and communication skills. There are no exams on this course and your portfolio of evidence will allow you to progress on to a higher level course in this area or gain employment as an office junior or receptionist.

Preparing to Study and Work in Hospitality and Catering: On this course you will pick up a range of food preparation and cooking skills whilst also learning essential skills in IT, health and Safety and hospitality giving you the option to progress on to a higher level course or gain employment in the industry.

Level 1 Child Development: This course will give you the opportunity to learn about the practical and theoretical aspects of child development including parenthood and pregnancy, physical development, nutrition and health and intellectual, social and emotional development. You will also gain work experience and the ability to progress on to a higher level course or employment.

Preparing to Study and Work in the Hairdressing Industry: This course will give you skills to enable you to progress on to a higher level course or go into employment in a salon. You will get the opportunity to how to condition and blow dry, contribute to colouring hair and gain skills in team working, reception and health and safety.

NCFE Certificate for Entry to the Uniformed Services: If you’re interested in a career in any of the uniformed services such as the Army, Navy, RAF, Prison Service, Fire and Police then this is the course for you. After this course you will be able to progress on to the next level or apply to work in the uniformed services.

Construction Diploma - Brickwork L1: This course is designed for anyone wishing to enter the construction industry at craftsman level or those wishing to progress to higher level qualifications including the Level 2 Construction Diploma in Brickwork. On the course you will develop practical brickwork skills including safe working practices; information quantities and communication with others; building methods and construction technology; blocklaying; bricklaying; cavity walling; contributing to setting out and building basic masonry structures up to damp course.
