The Adirondack Park is a natural wilderness area created by the State of New York, the park is a constitutionally protected Forever Wild preserve that encompasses over 6 million acres of public and private land. It is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, greater in size than Yellowstone, Everglades, Glacier, and Grand Canyon National Park combined.

The Adirondacks have long been a rural haven for families inspiring generations as an outdoor playground and is most notable for striking an extraordinary balance between modern-day interests and environmental preservation. Quaint villages nested in the mountains and lakes offer residents a peaceful lifestyle of timeless beauty, outdoor recreation and unspoiled wilderness with an abundance of wildlife coexisting amid the modern-day conveniences. Fun Fact: The term “vacation” is said to have originated in the Adirondacks. New Yorkers would “vacate” the city during the sticky summer months and head for the cool northern woods. Whether it was the 2,300 pristine lakes and ponds, 1,500 miles of rivers, 30,000 miles of brooks and streams, over 2,000 mountains, and 46 high peak mountains (over 4,000 feet in height), 2,000 miles of hiking trails or one of the area’s many sporting events that brought you here, my guess is that you will return. Two Weeks of Spectacular Equestrian Competition Returns to the Adirondacks Lake Placid Horse Shows Named One of the Nation’s Top-Ten Horse Shows The 2017 Lake Placid Horse Shows, presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC, and sponsored by Bainbridge Farm, will again welcome the nation’s top horses and riders for two weeks of action-packed competition at their world-class venue, June 27 – July 9. Now in their 48th year, the award-winning Lake Placid Horse Shows have grown into one of the most prominent events on the national hunter-jumper calendar.

The Lake Placid Horse Show will take place June 27- July 2, highlighted by the $75,000 Devoucoux Grand Prix on Sunday, July 2. The I Love New York Horse Show will follow on July 4-9, featuring the $100,000 Great American Insurance Group Grand Prix on Saturday, July 8 followed by the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, presented by Eastern Hay & Grain and Purina Animal Nutrition on Sunday, July 9. The best seats in the house are at one of Lake Placid’s special Turf & Field Club tables. The Turf & Field Club Spectator Tables are in a raised, covered viewing area between the Richard M.
