The shows offer exciting equestrian competition, from children under 7 competing in the Juliam Farm Lead Line class to Olympic veterans competing in the horse shows’ two $75,000 Grand Prix events. Set among the splendor of the Adirondacks, the shows offer competitors a complete vacation with hiking, swimming, kayaking and boating all accessible. Highlighting the equestrian competition at this year’s Lake Placid Horse Shows are the $75,000 Horseware Ireland Grand Prix of Lake Placid, on Sunday, July 1, and the $75,000 Woodlea Farms Grand Prix, on Saturday, July 7. Grand Prix riders will also be competing for the Richard and Diana Feldman Perpetual Challenge Trophy for Excellence, awarded to the competitor who wins the most combined prize money in the two Grand Prix. Nearly 1,000 horses are on site competing in a variety of competitions for riders ranging from children to the nation’s best. There are four competition rings – three with all weather surface plus the all grass Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field.
