Now THREE Weeks of Exciting Competition Beautiful horses on display at the In The Adirondacks Lake Placid Horse Shows The 45th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows, Presented by Sea Shore Stables, LLC, returns to the village of Lake Placid, NY, and this year, for the first time ever, Lake Placid Horse Shows has added an additional week of competition, which now promises to be the best THREE weeks of exciting competition in the Adirondacks!

The Lake Placid Horse Shows feature non-stop equestrian action starting at 8:00 am each day with more than 100 classes of competition each week for all levels of competitors ranging from young children on ponies to Olympic medalists. The Lake Placid Horse Show takes place June 24-29, highlighted by the $75,000 Devoucoux Grand Prix of Lake Placid on Sunday, June 29. The I Love New York Horse Show takes place July 1-6, highlighted by the $75,000 I Love New York Grand Prix, along with the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby. The inaugural Adirondack Horse Show will take place July 8-13, highlighted by the $100,000 Woodlea Farms Adirondack Grand Prix on Saturday, July 12. These are action-packed events, and the shows feature over $750,000 in prize money! Another exciting addition in 2014 is that all dirt rings including both Hunter Rings, the Jumper Annex, and all warm-up rings will have NEW FOOTING! The horse shows’ famed all-grass Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix field will remain the same.

Admission to the horse show is $2.00 on weekdays and $5.00 on weekend days. Tickets may be purchased at the entrance gate, and advance ticket purchase is not necessary as there is plenty of general seating available. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free, and discounts are available for groups of 20 or more. For a behind the scenes look at the shows, guided walking tours are offered Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 11:30 AM. The tours groups meet at the LPHS retail booth, and last approximately 1 hour. “Adding a third week provides more opportunity for our exhibitors to compete in a world-class horse show, and for our spectators to enjoy watching world-class riders in a beautiful vacation setting,” said Richard M. Feldman, Chairman of the Lake Placid Horse Show Association. “We also host an array of family-friendly activities, so the Lake Placid Horse Shows are going to be the best THREE weeks to spend in the Adirondacks!”

There are several show favorites which are returning this year. The annual Doggie Costume Contest, presented by Animal Planet and The Brown Dog Deli & Wine Bar, will take place on Sunday, July 6 in a special area next to the Richard M Feldman Grand Prix Family fun in the Doggie Costume Contest! Field. Dogs are dressed up and compete for the Lulu Perpetual Trophy for the funniest costume. Competitors with leashed dogs in costume are admitted to the horse show free of charge that day, and all canine contestants go home with a tail-wagging bag of treats. Another favorite tradition is the Equestrian Window Decorating Contest where the local Lake Placid businesses decorate their shop windows with their best equestrian theme. A stroll down Main Street gives spectators a chance to really get into the horse show spirit and see how creative and competitive they are. Lake Placid’s traditional 4th of July Parade followed by a dazzling fireworks display over Mirror Lake is another fun-filled event not to be missed!

The horse show’s vendor area features some of the best shopping in the Adirondacks including local Adirondack products, artists, clothing and apparel, real estate, photography, a variety of equine related shops, a booth with official Lake Placid Horse Shows merchandise, and a variety of food.
