Toni Bottino, wife of Vinny Bottino holds a copy of the street sign with her husbands name presented by Bayonne Mayor James Davis and the Bayonne City Council.

On October 24th Bayonne Mayor James Davis honored his and Bayonne’s long time friend Vinny Bottino by dedicating a portion of 19th Street in Bayonne to be named Vinny Bottino Way. Bottino passed away on July 28th, 2019 at 63.

For many years Vinny Bottino and his wife Toni operated the Big Apple Sports Palace on Broadway, between 18th and 19th streets, as did his parents before him spanning over 40 years serving the Bayonne community.

Four generations of Bottino’s have been part of the fabric of Bayonne life.

Bottino retired in 2016 and as he always had, he dedicated his time to his family and the many organizations he sponsored to help the youth in Bayonne.

A 2004 New York Times article described Bottino as the “backbone of Bayonne,” for his many civic contributions.

With over one hundred family and friends in attendance Davis told the attendees “it was never about him, it was always about everyone else.”

The mayor also added “this dedication is so well deserved for everything Vinny and his family hasdone for this city and especially for the children.”

THE 10TH ANNUAL YOUR MOVE MODERN DANCE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO THE LANDMARK LOEW’S THEATRE Art House Productions (Executive Director Meredith Burns) and Friends of the Loew’s are proud to announce the 10th Annual Your Move Modern Dance Festival sponsored by The KRE group, Harwood Properties, and Point Capital Development.

This year’s four-day festival will return to the Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theatre (54 Journal Square Plaza, Jersey City), a historic venue in Jersey City which will celebrate its 90th anniversary this year. The festival will run from November 1317, 2019. Single tickets are now on sale at www. arthouseproductions.org.

Breaking the traditional boundaries of performance and spectatorship, Your Move is an active and unique experience for patrons. Each performance celebrates the vast, historic Loew’s JerseyTheater.

Dances in the first half of each performance are presented in the theater’s lobby, a lavish, three-story promenade with elegant ornamentation. Following the intermission, patrons will be invited into the Italian Renaissance-style proscenium theater for the second-half of the program. Each dance is choreographed uniquely for the Loew’s awe-inspiring space, making this a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

Because of the sitespecific nature of the program, audiences will be standing and walking around during the lobby performances. Audiences are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.
