Good design comes from an intuitive feeling that is transmitted to the audience in order to help them experience the power of the work. Design is a way of looking at the world, not an abstract concept or even a rational process, but the purest way to understand the world. My designs create a rhythm and power that enhance the world with my unique ideas and creative visual solutions. The key to good design is to sit with the audience, listen to their stories, and intuitively experience their feelings. For me, this empathetic process is a way to unlock more creative possibilities for myself and positively inf luence my audience. Achieving a resonance with the viewer is also an intuitive process that contains powerful energy and potential. The power of design can promote the progress of society and even change the world.

Art Studio Platform

Project

01/09 Changing Is What Matters

Produce a digital platform that can

help people experience artistic value in an engaging way.

Approach As an art lover, I have learned through my research that many of the current online platforms for art studios lack visual expression or offer an interactive experience. I redesigned the online platform for studio and increased the website’s interactivity to allow users to better experience the artistic value of the Studio. During the development phase, I also applied human-centered design principles to the user interfaces. By using minimal style and color enhancements, my design emphasizes the features of studio (3standardstoppage) with distracting the user, satisfying the needs of art enthusiasts and artists and art enthusiasts in various genres.

As a music lover, I chose the song “Apocalypse” from the 2017 debut album of the American ambient pop band Cigarettes After Sex. Feelings of loneliness, nostalgia, and serenity in the music inspired my design, and I experimented with lighting and projections to fully express these ideas through my poster.

Approach

Design a poster that explains the story behind a piece of music through typography, images, and layout. Different elements have been composed on various surfaces with screens and projectors to make the image appear more three-dimensional.

Instructor Listening to records and gazing at the sky filled my leisure time. My sense of peace was heightened during these moments, and I experienced the feeling of happiness that followed. Even though it was a short time, I felt as if I was at peace, experiencing a sense of tranquility. I record this part of my life. Because I listen to vinyl records daily, I chose the shape of vinyl records as a graphic element to express my life. Then, I used design skills to describe life events and emotions.

David Hake

Instructor This project aimed to redesign the LEGO Group’s annual report for 2018. LEGO is a long-established toy brand, so I chose “friendly and pleasant” as the project’s concept. Besides featuring LEGO’s classic identity, I highlighted its outstanding performance using clear and direct visual images.

Approach

Completely redesign an annual report for a selected brand, and develop a report with the visual language of the company/organization.

Ridley Scott Film Festival

Project

06/09 Traveling to Freedom

Select a film director and design a

hypothetical film festival by concep-

tualizing a visual system and creating accompanying materials.

Approach I explored the following themes in Ridley Scott’s films: reality and loneliness in reality. Futurism and cyberpunk style inspired the visual language I used to express the film festival’s theme. Likewise, color provides an unmotivated feeling and encompasses themes of inner darkness, like nostalgia, melancholy, and fancy.

This project’s deliverables were mainly print publications: Visual Strategy Guide, Visual Development Guide, and Visual Standards Guide. For this collaborative project, I used my graphic design skills, including type design, logo design, and element design, to serve the team’s needs and fulfill the goals of the sponsored project. My team worked collaboratively to design the branding part, logo part, and a website that presents all team’s work and our perspective on future.

Approach

Collaborate with faculty and students from the industrial design, interior architecture design, UX/UI design, and other departments to explore master’s-level concepts and the challenges of emerging areas within UI/UX and new media in the automotive industry, focusing on creative problem solving, automotive interior design, and user interfaces.

Cultivating mindfulness is indispensable to people’s lives. My project is designed to help individuals improve their quality of life by enabling lifelong habits that promote relaxation, good health, and tranquility. In addition, this project aims to provide users with practical strategies for relieving stress and overcoming negative emotions by using visual solutions.

Approach

Help people reduce stress and overcome negative emotions through mindfulness training, such as meditation and therapy, which helps people achieve serenity and develop mindfulness awareness.

My sincere thanks go out to all of the instructors who have taught me at the Academy of Art University. To Phil Hamlett, Mary Scott, William Culpepper, Hunter Wimmer, Jeremy Stout, John Nettleton, Sandra Isla, David Hake, Christopher Morlan, and my other inspiring instructors—thank you so much for expanding my horizons, refreshing my understanding, and inspiring me to appreciate the art and power of design. You have opened my world and given me the opportunity to meet unprecedented challenges and reach for my infinite potential. As a human being, I am privileged to have learned from each of you during this phase of my life. These lessons are my most precious treasure.

To My Instructors

My heartfelt thanks go to my friends and classmates at the Academy and back home who have supported me all these years and remained a part of my life. I deeply appreciate you for inspiring my work, providing me with companionship, and guiding me. The opportunity to be inspired by each of you has been an honor.

Thank you to my mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and sisters for being such an amazing family and supporting me as I pursue my dream. I am deeply honored and grateful for your love and dedication. I have benefited immensely from your encouragement and respect, which have given me great courage and strength on my journey. If it were not for you, I would not be where I am today. Your love for me is greater than any other, and you have always been my pillar of support.
