I am highly influenced by research and performative architecture. I am inspired by the work of NOX Studio (Lars Spuybroek) and Heatherwick that explore dynamic digital form finding techniques and material innovations into possibilities for construction and new spatial experience.

Graduate architect

My design strength lies with my ability to couple contextual elements with dynamic form-finding approach using digital tools. I hope to bring fresh design ideas and strong technical know-how to a firm that values loyalty, innovation and human capital.

Participations

Through my work experience to date had humbled me to be sensitive to contemporary issues of climate change and its impact on built environment and social housing.

SPECULATIVE PUBLIC SPACE

Spatial typology

” What if we reject holding an event in the same place year after year, what if instead it is brought to the shifting sand dunes from which the very soul of the event originated? What would a festival look like without a fixed location, without a fixed form, and without fixed pathways to travel upon’’

Taking the Pushkar Camel Fair as a case study, the objective for the project is to create a new annual livestock fair for the camel herders of Rajasthan to preserve its culture through architecture. In this new fair the traditional camel herders of Rajasthan will not only participate in the usual trade of camel stock, but will also participate in specific rituals that generate an iterative, layered, moving architecture that would provide an ever-evolving site for future fairs. By holding the fair in the same, established location every year the relationships that has been built over centuries between camel, herder and environment is slowly worn away. Releasing the fair’s architecture from a fixed location refocuses the true ideals of the fair as one of the bond between man and beast and the arduous journeys that both must take to continue thriving together.

To emulate the natural process of sedimentation the layering technique couple with the biocementation of sand as solidification approach was chosen. The biological activity is initiated within the target zone through augmentation of microbes onto the surface by means of spraying the bacteria solution to catalyse the precipitation of calcite and binds the sand together.

308 Exhibition St. Commercial tower design

The massing of the tower was conceived from the abstraction of the Moreton Bay Fig tree located the nearby Carlton Garden. Strong bold expressed structural lines of the mega columns and diagonals represent the heavy and exposed roots merging into a singular wide trunk that stretches upwards to form multiple branches which merges into the apex of the building, the crown.

Starting with the built form control for Melbourne CBD, a parametric script is used to generate an initial massing that comply to the regulation and design aspiration. The criteria imposed on the optimisation algorithm are building heights, setbacks and leasing depth. A multiobjective “evolutionary algorithm” produced the final massing form that fulfil the criteria set above.

While the primary massing reflects the heavy structural expressionism, the north and west podiums counter this effect through a lighter high-tech curved space frame glass-over-podium surrounding the northern and western sides of the building. The major access points are located at these podiums catering for the major circulation paths of La Trobe and Exhibition Street.

The design achieved an average efficiency of 80.4 % throughout the floorplates while maximizing NLA and GFA (with overall average NLA 1974.3 m2 and GFA 2454.3 m2) with a range of leasing depth from 10(sky rise) to14m. We have also allocated 25% (51 meters) of the top portion of the massing volume to an integrated sculptural crown.

the Collective Common co-housing multi-residential prototype MULTIRESIDENTIAL HOUSING

C

ollective common was conceived as a hybrid prototype multi-residential development, it combines the traditional terrace/row house typology common in Melbourne with typical urban dwelling of apartment living. The development builds upon the idea of co-housing where the development retains individual private home ownership while fostering community relationship and sense of neighbourhood through shared spaces and multiuse common facilities. Port Melbourne is demographically inclined towards young professionals, growing young families and independent elderly citizens. These groups typically have different housing and social requirements which creates fractured housing options in the market. In consequence, this creates social isolation and decrease affordability as developers generalised these requirements to fit a larger spectrum of buyers.

The Tale of a Traveller

I : the Longing Mom said “you go to another land find another city better than mine” I am still searching, for it takes time In my existence these words chime I have yet to find the city of mine. I soar sky high, free as the wind takes me As I said good bye, flying away with glee This shore welcomes me with open arms,

Enticed by the glittering flickers of charms in the darkness of the night, it looks so calm promise riches tropes, landed full of hopes drained and weary, I mope it feels right in this dead of the night.

The Tale of a Traveller

II : the Escape

cont. In the restricted frame of view, In the restricted frame of view, with strings of headlights approaching and red taillights departing, vex with constant honking, screeching and clacking, with no means to tame. Beleaguered soul and senses inflamed.

With all these crazy rhythms, look for freedom for I’m beaten take these memories as I don’t need them. Itchy eyes drawn to the green patch, down the broad valley, crosses different alleys fronted by red bricks, colours mismatch. An adventure’s about to hatch

They walk in black and robes attired, work ward and homeward. Expressionless…. with life muted and soul looted. Ants with no mother but they all walk together

From the strident trains, outbound. The hound growling his bitter wound. Echoes from above the ground, cast un welcome shield around, the small green oasis is almost drowned.

In between the thunderous whine. One brief moment rare like wine, the heaven is aligned to this patch of green shrine. The Eucalyptus smells divine, with the rustle of its leaves entwined.

This green turf is what is left of the wharf, it was. The wood pylons aligned like a wall, among the trees they stand tall, as sign this land is not for all. The river was heaven in time past. Sepia coloured sluggish flow, small ripples, left by ploughs. There were mists with shadows cast. Birrarrung was the dreaming path. As clouds and clouds embrace. Flows of breeze waft this space, gently soothes this worried face. The gust distorts the hollow noises as focus echoes of own voices. Rest in grace of this heaven for brief of time worries are lessen.
