INT RODUC T ION The purpose of this portfolio is to highlight the work that I have undertaken so far in my Bachelor of Environment - Architecture (2013-1014) . This is also my first collection of creative work since I made the big jump to pursue my dream doing architecture. I have also included some of my photography work which is integral part of my creative journey. My skill set in traditional design ,rendering and model making is progressively improving along with my digital design and fabrication skill. Being a mature student, I have the advantage of maturity and wisdom in my design methodologies as well as my attitude. Good time management and decision making comes naturally from my previous working experience. My experience working in a fast moving environment, teamwork and result oriented projects puts me in a stong position to get things done, in time and to an expected standard.
I hope this portfolio will show my ability to think though the design process, communicate visually my ideas and development of my own design language. Thank you Rizal Ambotang

STUDIO WATER 2014 involved looking at modernist master architects such as Le Corbuiser,
Mies van der Rohe, Alvar Aalto and Alvaro Siza among few others, and understand their formal approach in design (style/language) as a basis in developing own unique style. In this semester, I was assigned to study the works of Alvaro Siza. The final project for this studio was to redevelop the existing Studley Park Boathouse in Kew. The studio focuses on spatial planning, slope sectional design, visual representations (sections, elevations and 3D volumes). Integrated design approach using the context as well as material and stucture of the design is also heavily emphasized.

enduring Melbourne urban landmark providing activity rich location for recreation and social activities. The main purpose of this project is to enhance the activities onsite with the rich natural surrounding into a seamless flow of space with complimenting panoramic views. The design itself is characterized by a strong symbolism : the spread wings of a bird that gives the design its form. With the action word “FLOWING , the concept merges the natural flow of river , the slope with the flow of movement generated by the activities to form a unique spatial arrangement with panoramic views of the surrounding,

Through the discovery and design process above, the Studley Park Boathouse project has given me a greater understanding and experience to design to context and appreciation on Siza’s poetic composition. Influenced by Siza’s design philosophy of respecting the context, it has put the monumental form a humbling character through its horizontality against the verticality of the mature trees/vegetation and the dominating steep slope of the site. Taking the cues from nature, the calming effect of the river flow on its surroundings, my design intend to give an enduring mark onthe landscape moving forward by giving spatial purpose as an urban retreat while respecting its natural surroundings
