Avian Taxidermy

Udaipur City Palace, India

Work by artist Kelly McCallum is showcased in her apartment in the East End of London.

The Maharaja’s Apartment with a taxidermy cheetah standing guard. During the days of the British Raj, the Maharajas were keen hunters and their trophies are still evident in the palaces today. In 1925, the Maharaja of Kotah had his Rolls Royce Phantom modified for tiger hunting by adding a machine gun and a cannon.

Pet Taxidermy In Victorian England, the preoccupation with death extended to the preservation of pets. Although dogs were usually cased, some were mounted as heads on shields, trophy-style.
