SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES SEPT FRI 19 7pm £4.50 / £2.50 (Local Links) PREVIEW One strange and wild autumn, a little while ago, Hallowe’en came early. It came at exactly the same time as Cooger and Dark’s Pandemonium Shadow Show rolled into town. That year, James Nightshade of 97 Oak Street was thirteen years, eleven months, twenty-three days old. Next door, William Halloway was thirteen years, eleven months, twenty-four days old. Both almost fourteen. Almost, but not quite. For Jim and Will, the lure of the funfair is irresistible. They soon discover that a sinister secret lies behind the smoke and mirrors and the carnival holds a dark desire to destroy the whole town. Only Jim, Will and Will’s mild-mannered dad can save the day. A spine-tingling battle between good and evil, packed with a terrifying collection of characters including the mysterious flying Dust Witch and the deadly Mr. Dark. (9 yrs +)

Hannah and her Dad live in parallel worlds, they live together but apart. Hannah’s world is her bedroom. She loves to paint and to dream - blue skies, soaring eagles flying over white-tipped mountains and clear blue lakes. In her world, she has one real friend, a seven feet invisible rabbit called Harvey. But lately, the worlds she creates in her paintings have become darker and scarier, places full of black clouds and spiders... and she is finding it harder and harder to return home. She doesn’t leave her bedroom much any more.
IMAGE: Helen Nunn
Dad’s world is the adult world of parenting and responsibility. But he is worried. For a long time he's found it hard to talk to Hannah and it's been even more difficult recently. Their two worlds collide but then help arrives in a big rabbit shaped package! (10 yrs +)

OCT THU 30 10.30am & 1.30pm OCT FRI 31 10.30am, 1.30pm & 5.30pm £2 In 1990 Jean Guillon storyteller brought the first Flying Theatre in a bus from Provence to Glasgow. He returns with his new Flying Theatre to visit Glasgow again! Light-hearted, humorous peasant comedy from Provence, from tales Jean heard as a child. This colourful world is bursting at the seams with Provençal sayings that jump out at you from the tales. The Provençal language is born of light and its heroes always come to a happy ending, sometimes with destiny’s helping hand, without ever loosing their dignity. (7 yrs +) Tales of Provence is performed in English.
An enchanting tale from Argentina, performed in simple Spanish for 6 - 10 year olds, teachers, families and friends. Brother and sister, Luis and Natalia, are playing in the foothills of the Andes. They see a beautiful, shimmering ball and chase after it. However, the ball belongs to the cold-eyed witch of the mountains! Natalia is trapped by the witch’s magic and Luis must race against time to save her. He seeks help from Atahualpa, a wise old man, and from the most noble bird of the Andes el Cóndor! Théâtre Sans Frontières brings its flair for engaging children in different languages and cultures to this Argentinian folktale which is told through a combination of puppets, performers and live music. A short, free workshop is available to encourage children to learn and join in with the songs in the show. “It made new language fun and exciting. Both children and staff thought it was a great performance” TEACHER, HOLY TRINITY CE PRIMARY SCHOOL
FRANZ LEHÁR
Sung in English with piano accompaniment. Set at the start of the 20th century, in the last few years before the Great War, The Merry Widow opens with a ball where two former lovers meet. Minor Pontevedrian diplomat Count Danilo has been ordered to rekindle his romance with Hanna, now a wealthy widow whose fortune could avert the financial ruin of his country. Though they still love each other, Danilo is too proud to be thought a fortune hunter and the fashionable and forward thinking Hanna too bruised to do anything but ignore his advances. Full of witty songs and lively music, including ever popular Vilja Song, You'll Find Me at Maxim's and The Merry Widow Waltz. The Merry Widow is an exuberant blend of romance, regret, cancan girls, nostalgia, exotic parties and the enticing pull of a world that is on the brink of changing forever.
