We sow. We reap. We grow. Nowhere is this more evident than in the multicultural richness of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. HBCUs have a long legacy of research innovation that provides answers to pivotal questions and provides solutions to problems. An evening with BEYA’s Leading Voices celebrates STEM Innovators, five experts in their fields who deliver thought-provoking TechTalks that enlighten and challenge conventional thinking.

Will industries be able to return to the environment that existed before COVID-19? Daily work has started to resume however, things are going to look very different. Is this going to be the new normal and new world? Organizations and leaders are starting to anticipate what this will look like long-term. Supply chain leaders are trying to transition from this uncertainty by adopting new ways of working to stabilize their business. We must strategically position operations for life beyond the pandemic by designing a supply chain that resilient, agile and can quickly respond to the change in both supply and demand . BEYA LEADING VOICES TECH TALK Joan Robinson-Berry Retired Senior VP, Chief Engineer, Boeing Global Services, The Boeing Company > Topic: Data & Analytics: Treads & Future Impact Understand trends and strategies on how big data, analytics and AI are helping organizations better understand and meet their customers’ demands. By analyzing behavior, surveys and other feedback, organizations can become agile in modifying their digital presence, goods, or services to better suit the current marketplace and improve internal performance. I will explore strategies to bridge the fluency skills gap for African Americans and other underrepresented groups and empower a diverse talent pipeline for success in Analytics and related Data Driven Technologies. I will provide insights on bias that enter an algorithmic system because of pre-existing cultural, social, or institutional expectations, because of technical limitations of their design and lack of diversity inclusion on projects. Audience will have a better understanding of product data analytics, visualization and a deep understanding of the bias and recommendations on how to fix.
