AN EVENING OF EMPOWERMENT AND INSPIRATION Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to be appointed to the Supreme Court, said “It has taken 232 years and 115 prior appointments for a Black woman to be selected to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States,” “But we’ve made it. We’ve made it. All of us.” It’s our time to lead a generation of women to own the importance and the necessity of their contributions to the collective success of our families, our communities, our workplaces, our nation, and the global community in which we live. The Tech talks presented at WOC draws attention to the varied experiences of women at key points in their STEM career journey. It unveils the contrast between their universal experiences, and the uniqueness of each career trajectory. The Women of Color Tech talks serve to inform women of their options, and to remind them that they matter, that staying the course matters in measurable ways to our collective success. The Women of Color Conference Women Empowered to Engage presents a panel of powerhouse women who share their career challenges and successes on their road to claiming their rightful seats at the STEM table. This trusted community of leaders offers its perspectives for everyone from early to mid-career to top executives who continue to press for the progress that women have already earned. HOST Denise Evans was previously Vice President, Women & Diverse BtB Marketing where she led an organization responsible for the advocacy of strategic IBM solutions to businesses owned by Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans in North America and women owned, led and influenced businesses, globally. Through speaking at external conferences, she ensured these businesses understood how to “put smart to work” to change how the world works.

Denise served globally, for more than 40 years, in numerous leadership and executive positions in IBM including Directors of Global e-business, Global Customer Loyalty, and Global Relationship Marketing. She is a member of the IBM Faculty for Global Sales Schools, IBM Advancing Minorities in Engineering (AMIE) Executive Champion for Morgan State University School of Engineering, and a mentor for the Carver P-Tech school in Baltimore.

Angela Satchell currently serves as the Technical Director for the NSA Enterprise Systems Engineering organization. In her role, she is responsible for the NSA enterprise standards for systems engineering, standardization of systems engineering tools, and creating an enterprise hub to both integrate systems engineering efforts across the NSA enterprise and management of interoperability standards with external partners. Prior to assuming her current position, Mrs. Satchell was Chief of the Enterprise Architecture and Standards organization where she led a team of over 30 civilians and contractors, system architects, and standards subject matter experts to ensure best practices across NSA’s enterprise architecture.
