RJO Foundation is calling all RJO home chefs as we come together to create Recipe Gems: An RJO Family Cookbook.

We are hoping our RJO retailers and vendors will participate in creating this book by submitting your favorite recipes

It's free to submit your recipes, and you can share as many recipes as you would like. Finished cookbooks will be available for sale at an upcoming Buying Show.

RJO is incredibly excited to partner with industry heavyweight and a leader in education, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Alumni Collective, to provide two popular seminars, on-site in Philadelphia prior to the start of the RJO Summer Buying Show. Space is very limited as each seminar is limited to 24 participants and attendees must be preregistered to attend There is a $225 fee per seminar and includes all course materials and supplies

RJO will be offering the following seminars:

Seminar #1: Overview of Laboratory-Grown Diamonds

Friday, July 28th from 3:00pm - 5:00pm Marriott, Franklin Hall 11

Created through a technological process rather than geological, gem-quality laboratory-grown diamonds have become readily available in the retail gem market. Many customers have questions about these gems including how they compare to natural diamonds and how they are made

This seminar will provide essential knowledge about laboratorygrown diamonds that will give gem and jewelry professionals the confidence to have responsible discussions with their customers. Key topics will include the main production methods (HPHT and CVD), a review of important U S Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations, and the services, methods and instruments that can help to distinguish laboratory-grown and natural diamonds, including GIA Laboratory Reports and the GIA iD100™ gem testing device

Participants are encouraged to ask questions as they are guided by GIA gemology instructors who will share their expertise through illustrations, images, video and live demonstrations of the characteristics of production methods and testing tools

Seminar #2: Introduction to Diamond Treatments

Saturday, July 29th from 8:30am - 10:30am

Many treatments have been developed to attempt to enhance a diamond’s color and clarity A treated diamond may still be a beautiful and valuable gem, and ideally, the treatment is disclosed during the sales process; however, that may not always be the case. Understanding how to identify these treatments is important to help protect the value of the gems for both buyers and sellers, as well as maintaining the trust between a customer and retailer

This seminar will introduce the most common treatments applied to diamonds in today’s market, with a focus on the treatments that can be reliably identified using standard gemological tools. Using a camera-equipped microscope, instructors will demonstrate identification techniques and how they examine diamonds treated for clarity enhancement More advanced color treatments, which will often require advanced instruments to identify, will be covered briefly

This seminar is ideal gem and jewelry professionals, retailers, sales associates, jewelry enthusiast and appraisers.

After Antwerp you are invited to travel with the RJO crew via train from Antwerp to London via Brussels Once there, RJO retailers can tour the city on their own and meet up with the group in the evenings. RJO travelers who visited Idar-Oberstein before Antwerp will depart from London to the United States

Those who are not headed home, will head for Idar-Oberstein, Germany to meet with the Rolf H. Mueller team.
