Sunday Evening Gala ¯ Meet Me in St. Louis

It’s only fitting that the Sunday gala for our Jazzed buying show be an evening immersed in the historic Jazz Age, a period of flappers, Bessie Smith, bootleggers and speakeasies, art deco, hot jazz and wild dancing! Sounds like fun.

The evening starts at the sophisticated cocktail area, where you can order a glass of your favorite hooch before entering the ballroom. We’ll have live, sultry jazz to accompany our meal, after which the band cranks it up for a night of Fox Trotting, Lindy Hopping or, well, modern dancing. Later in the evening, everyone can don headbands and hats, open umbrellas, grab a noisemaker or instrument and whatever else to join the band in a parade around the ballroom. Don’t have a headband, hat, umbrella, et. al.? The ladies will be able to create their own sequin or velvet bands with feathers, gems, jewels, beads and more, while the gents will have a haberdashery of period hats to choose from. A variety of instruments also will be available for musicians who want to join the band. Visiting the past is fun and all, but we’ll also have a 2015-style slow-motion video booth for everyone’s amusement. You’ll even be able to download your videos to your phone for sharing with everyone who’s missing out. 6:30 - 10 p.m. Renaissance, Majestic Ballroom Reception/Hosted Bar: 6:30 - 7 p.m. Dinner/Awards/Entertainment: 7 - 10 p.m.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS “Within Reach” Presented by John Foppe

Born without arms, John Foppe understands firsthand the difficulty between envisioning an outcome and achieving it. The man who, at age 10 couldn’t put his own pants on, today operates his own company, travels the world, runs a large non-profit agency, and is a husband and father. John has learned that a person’s ability is not dependent on having ability, time and money. MEMBER/VENDOR JOINT BREAKFAST AND ROUNDTABLES As RJO members and vendors, we talk to each other throughout each buying show, but it’s usually limited to buying and selling. Our joint breakfast and roundtable sessions give both groups a chance to look past traditional buyer/ seller roles to explore the motivations and needs of the other side. The end result often is a greater understanding of the jewelry industry as a whole, and how both vendor and jeweler must work together for mutual success. Facilitated by Mary Peterson. Breakfast Served: 8 - 8:30 a.m. Be sure if you would like to eat breakfast, you arrive before 8:30 a.m. Roundtable Discussions: 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. The buying floor opens at 9:30 a.m. so many vendors may have to leave early. Please feel free to stay and finish your discussion. Renaissance, Majestic D-E

To win, have your Big Cash Giveaway ticket (from your show registration packet) with you during each drawing, and listen for your ticket number to be called – which means you must be present to win. Increase your odds by purchasing extra tickets at the show for $5 each (or 3 for $10). All proceeds go to a charity determined by the RJO board of directors.

Indeed, it’s possible. In a very fast-moving and fun 50 minutes, Mike will share a bit of what he’s learned in working with independent jewelers for over 20 years. How can just three spots a week work on radio? How can a little 2x3 print ad in the paper create a following? How can you run four spots a week on TV – and people talk about your ads?

After class, schedule time with Lindsey to integrate the systems simply and accurately with expert help from The Edge Retail Academy.

Spend less, get greater results. Share, laugh and learn with Mike!

Explore the art of brewing on the Anheuser-Busch Beermaster Tour, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how Budweiser is made. Highlights include the historic brew house, fermentation cellars, packaging facility and the Budweiser Clydesdales stable. At the end of the tour, take time to sample some Anheuser-Busch goodness.

Also included is a visit to the newly renovated Scott Joplin House, where the ragtime composer lived in the early 1900s.

A maximum of 10 guests are allowed for each tour. Please indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice for a tour time. They will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees of the Brewmaster Tours have to be checked in 30 minutes prior to the tour. There will be a short, 10-minute walk to the trolley stop, and the trolley takes 10 minutes to get to the Brewery. You will have a guide with you at all times, but please note the departure times from the hotel lobby for each tour.
