Introduction Introducing CEDaR CEDaR is part of the Academic Engagement Hub at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln. The Hub also incorporates Student Support and Learning Advice, Library Services, Student Recruitment and Admissions, Quality Assurance and Student Data, and International activity. CEDaR works with students and staff to enhance and develop learning, teaching and research. Our services reflect an ethos of openness and collaboration; a professional approach and respect for the individual underpin everything we do. Ways in which we can work with you This handbook outlines the services that we offer. We are keen to work with teaching colleagues and we find that this works best when what we do is tailored to course contexts. We can work with you 1:1 or with a whole course team; with specific technical issues to do with the VLE or by exploring pedagogical approaches to improve learning and teaching opportunities more generally; or through a comprehensive researcher development framework. We have tried to offer a broad range of development opportunities, but if there is something you would like to explore that we have not covered, please let us know. How we can help you CEDaR staff are responsible for covering a range of induction and development issues, and new staff are encouraged to contact us if they have any anxieties or aspirations relating to e-learning systems, learning and teaching or research, even if they feel that they have been already addressed by or fall outside the remit of the formal induction programme. We are able to provide technical advice when related to Blackboard and also for specific I.T. applications related to teaching and research such as SPSS, Nvivo, Prezi, Camtasia and others. We can often offer our own time in the form of tangible assistance and can help to identify opportunities for collaboration where these exist. Supporting Learning, Teaching and Research CEDaR staff can make direct contributions to module teaching, or provide training sessions for students on relevant tools or services, where they relate to specific assessed or formative assignments. In addition to this David Barber and Caroline Pearce can support academic staff when certain learning technologies, such as those found in the TALOS room, are required. Students can also come to us for further one-to-one assistance if needed in relation to technologies they are using for assignments or assessed work.

How we can help you Training, Advice and Development One-to-one Individual staff members are welcome to approach us for one-to-one instruction on specific learning, teaching or research tools at any time. This training can cover any area of e-learning related activity, including refresher sessions on any relevant issue, however basic or well covered they may seem. CEDaR Events Join us every Wednesday at 1pm for the CEDaR events programme. Team Training Schools, departments and programme teams can also request training. We are hoping to increase this kind of activity this year and will be contacting groups of staff with a view to identifying the most important training needs.
