Rotorua Lakes High School

From the Principal – P. 1 - 2 Junior Prize – P. 2 - 17 Holiday Info – P. 18 - 20 Notice Board – P. 20

Kia ora Koutou,

Welcome to the end of the 2022 academic year, finishing in great style with a celebration of our junior students at Junior Prizegiving (pages 2 - 17) Our heartfelt thanks to all parents and caregivers for supporting your children through the year and enabling us to provide them with positive experiences. It has been our pleasure to work with you. I hope that our students will take on board the message I gave at the prizegiving, to take those opportunities when they arrive, maintain a positive outlook and support those who look after you by helping out over the Christmas break.

Last week, we had the pleasure of saying farewell to our Year 13 graduates at the Leavers Dinner. It was great to see such great young adults moving forwards to the next stage of their lives. I, and all the staff at Lakes High School, wish them the very best in their future pathways.

We also had the opportunity to farewell staff who are leaving us: Dean Shelford is leaving us as our Head of Department for PE. Dean will be very missed at our school and we wish him all the very best Dana Frost our TIC of Health is moving on to a new phase in the education sector We wish Dana all the very best. Kay Hughes our English Teacher, who was covering maternity leave, is moving on and we wish Kay the very best. Alena-Rose Burt our Dance & Drama Teacher, is moving on to a new phase of teaching and we wish her all the best.

Thank you to the following staff who stepped in and helped teach throughout the year. It is very appreciated: Marion Forbes, Sharon Harris, Annie Scott, Talesa Ellery, Warren Lockie, Dave Parry, John Hooker and Brian Old.

To our students, ensure you look after your parents/caregivers and engage in some positive family time. We look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
